1998 cr-v vtec turbo AWD Auto dyno video
Hey all---here are links to my cr-v automatic b20 vtec turbo----transmission is fully rebuilt as well. Before we started the mods it had 72 whp, 75 wheel torque---after full rebuild it dynos at 187 whp and 158 wheel torque---
It's an automatic and AWD, so the numbers to the wheels will be low. It's an OBD2 Auto AWD, so engine manangement is a bit of a pain. We are only reving to around 6200, if we reved it out to 8000, I think it might make the same torque but closer to 240awhp. A stock 6-speed 04-06 STi will usually put down in the 195-205 range on the dyno.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting around the rev limiter at 6200?
It will be tuned to run on E85 soon---once it's all sorted out a little bodywork is in order, and perhaps some suspension tightening....

wouldn't a manual crv be more responsive? wouldn't it put more power down? well just wonder why you didn't go manual bro, just my .02 but nevertheless it's still a badass ride hahaa

Before the mods came up it had 175000 miles on it and was worn out---transmission slipped and engine burned a valve---. I decided rather than buy something new I'd rehab it and try to get another 100,000 miles out of it. I just had an additional tune for it to burn on E85---201 whp and 175 w trq.
Cant you use a step-down harness and a auto obd1 ecu? I've heard about chipping obd1 auto ecus and running crome, it doesnt change shift points but you can tune the fuel maps and add boost controls. Plus I think theres a obd1 vtec auto ecu also that you can use...anyone correct me if im wrong.
to bad you don't have the money to put the rdx setup into your crv that would nice. But I have heard of obd1 ecu's in obd2 auto setup's. You could call hondata they are very cool about crazy questions and setups like yours!
what did you do to the tranny when you did the rebuild? anything to make it stronger? what are you using for engine managment? I also have a 98 auto that i have been wanting to boost, i've been building a manifold and have done suspension and rims. any info would be nice and some pics.
Wow you're my hero! I've got a B20/VTEC CRV also. Debatting about throwing a small turbo in there. Seeing your videos are inspiring! Tell me what else you've done to it?? Fuel management, VTEC ECU?
I have a 98 auto crv as well. Thought about running vtec, but nothing like a turbo. I assume you're from Minnesota as well correct? I saw your thread on mnsc and from what it sounds like, it's the exact same V. That and the obvious DB Performance shout out on the vid! haha
Good work and very creative to get down with a fast crv. It'd be fun to check your V out at a local meet and maybe mooch a ride!

I just boosted my 98 5spd CRV on a conversion harness and obd1 p28 tuned on crome.
You need-OBD2B-OBD1 jumper harness- auto P28 ecu and tune it with crome, hondata ect ect

Yeah, you are lucky! I wish I would have gotten a manual CRV vice my auto. It just mucks up the engine management. I wish someone had a plug and play auto vtec ecu.
