Climate lights issues, works a little when beaten
95 GSR
So, I found a bunch of threads about issues with the climate control lights but no one mentioned anything about the issue I'm having.
The lights come on, but once I turn on the headlights...... all climate console lights go out. So it's probably a short somewhere... ? Right? I smacked the climate console few times and the lights turned on. I smacked it again and it died and so on few times. The connections seemed fine when I had the whole thing out this morning.
The defrost and hazards are not on either. The dim button is not on, but I don't even remember if it's supposed to be. The cruise light is fine. The stereo and cigarette lighter are on.
It can't be the fuse because the tail lights are on the same fuse and they work just fine. But maybe i'm wrong.
Help!
Thanks!

you might just need new bulbs. because mine were like that but i got tired of beating on dash and it just looked so empty when there's no light there. i went to acura and asked them it's like 15 bucks for one! and then i took the part number the honda and it was 4 bucks after a discount.

but....
not all the current bulbs are dead. two are, but two are still good (when they do turn on after a smack). Why would they be shorting out too?
When you did yours, did new bulbs actually fix the problem??
Have you checked the contacts of your wiring? Also check that the bulbs are seated well. I had a similar issue but I don't smack anything. There normally is a reason for things that go wrong. You just have to search for the reason.

You have wiring issues. Crossed wiring ****ed wiring. My bet is someone spliced into wiring to wire up something that comes on when you have your headlights on. To much demand for voltage on the circuit will cause lights to dim because it is splitting the voltage demand between sources. Check your wiring for anything after market installed when you turn your head lights on.
There isn't anything after market wired on that part of the car. I've owned it since 2000. The console worked fine until few weeks ago.
I've ordered 4 type B bulbs from autolumination.com and once I get them in I will disassemble the whole thing and check all the wiring. Sounds like something seems loose somewhere.
