Icon3 HELP!!!!!car has been parked over the winter now its sounds like an STI

Ive had my car parked in storage over winter. I just put my new tial q blow off valve and 44mm wastegate. I took the car out and everything drove smooth. Later in the day it was missing like it was running on 2 cylinders. so i pulled over and checked to see if the plug wires had a faulty connection. I started it up and it worked fine. Again about 10 mins later it did it again and then returned back to normal. I thought maybe it was the distributor or plug wires so when i got home i changed both and it continued to miss. The car sounded like an STI and would barely drive. So next i thought it was fouled plugs. i tried some other plugs and it ran bad and cleared up and started running good.

Today i put my old "bad" spark plugs on and my old distributor and wires and its running fine.

Anyone ever have this innerminute problem with there turboed b series?????

Oh and i compression test it and everything was perfect.

what wiring could it be? the car was perfect never had problems. but its been parked in my garage about two months. the gas isnt bad cuz i just filled it up so i doubt its bad gas. i thought it was fouled plugs and switched them and it ran bad then got good out of no where. so my next test was to put the old plugs in to see if it would make it run bad again and it didnt. im thinking something electrical but almost everything is new so idk where to start.

Here is my take. You see, your car was hibernating like a bear. While your car was in storage a bear was also in storage hibernating. During the long cold winter he would wake up in the middle of the night and slowly wrench on your car. He is actually a pretty smart bear as you can see. He posts on HT all the time, that is how he learned everything from welding to tuning. Anyhow, it was one cold night he decided to have a really cool "build" thread and post the updates all over the place. Little did you know he swaped a STI engine in it. He did mostly all the work himself because that is how bears roll, you know. He even tuned it and looked at the maps and said, this map has too much timing, this map it too rich, but this map is just right. So all you need to do is find the map he tuned that was juuust right, according to the bear.

Someone been reading too many kiddies books...lol.

To the OP, maybe something crawled in and chewed on your wires while the car was in storage. Check your wiring, grounds, fusebox, alt, etc.

i had a similar issue mine sounded like it was a diesel but i called around and everyone said let it warm up if the sound continues then u have an issue but once she was warm the sound went away. tends to happen on built motors down here in canada with the extreme cold but once they are warm its back to normal.

My guess is that your valves need to be adjusted. I had that same problem and an adjustment helped alot.

LOL, all you want, im not the one that has the problem. like i said, clean your injectors. maybe while your at it, drop your fuel lines and filter, maybe you will find some corrosion in there.

then sounds like moisture in the wires or something electrical , might just need some good old drying.

In the frozen land of minnesota, it's usually dirty injectors that cause such issues. We have long winters and it gives the fuel plenty of time to gel up in the injectors.

im with davef. clean your injectors, it sounds like a injector could be dirty an intermitenly sticking.
