Default Need Help with my Horn!

All of a sudden in the middle of the day my horn goes on. No alarm what so ever. I opened my driver side door and slammed it shut and the horn goes off...WTF? Sometimes when I hit a bump or slam my door it would go off just a little bit. I now noticed the horn has a higher pitch sound than normal. Could it be that one of em has gone out?

first off, you have two horns? so i assume you have a DX or an SI
I had this problem once, but it was because the retaining ring, that keeps the two plastic covers together, of which go on the steering column, had slipped. the ring slipped, and was shorting out the connection between the two terminals. take off you steering wheel, see if that is the problem.

if not, could just be bad wiring somewhere. have you done anything to your EF lately?

Yeah, I know there's two horns..High and a low. The horn doesn't sound like what it use to. I think the Low horn went out. Its more of a whimpy sound. Anyway, when I open the hood I can hear a "whissing sound" like air compressing.. So it will just honk out of no where. To stop it, I would have to open my door and slam it shut..LoL I removed the 20amp fuse so it doesn't unexpectly honk again. I'll probably look into it this weekend because its currently raining. Any suggestions would help

That a short to ground for sure....Somewhere you have the wires completing the circuit.
Find and fix. Start at the horn making the noise and trace, Probably right near the bumper.

Should I be looking for exposed wiring?

take the suspected horn off and connect it to a power source. If the horn doesnt work then you know its bad. if it works you can search for a grounding or interior issue.

Haha! It goes on in my driveway while it was raining. I'll take out the bumper today and check it out.

Problem Fixed! Took out my bumper, Lower Horn had exposed wires touching the front bumper support. Soldered the wires back together, covered it with electrical tape. No wonder it kept shorting out! Thanks for the help guy!
