Default exhaust help

ok i have been searching for my answers and can't find anything. i have a 2005 EX and i'm wanting to get an exhaust system but i don't know what all i need. i know i need the catback but do i need a test pipe too. also do i need a down pipe or mid pipe (whatever the hell those are). i'm wanting to get a new header so will i need whatever pipe that connects from the header to the test pipe? sorry if this is noobish but i am and just wanting this cleared up for me.

actually better yet is there a website where you can buy an entire exhaust set up from the header down. one that takes the cat out. thats what i am really looking for. i just don't want to order somthing and have to wait to put it on because it didn't come with somthing and i also don't want to order a test pipe if one of these set ups come with it. thanks in advance.

well when you buy an exhaust system it usually connects right up with your cat converter. and if you want to get headers, i guess they can bolt right into your cat (correct me if im wrong im just guessing here) or you can get a down pipe to replace your cat. thats what im running, headers, downpipe, and exhaust. but the headers make a world of difference, sound wise. i have a greddy ti-c and b4 my headers it was nice and semi loud and throaty but with my headers/downpipe its crazy loud. it just depends on what your going for.

i'm going for crazy rice loud. and i did a lot more research and found out that all i need is the cat back, headers and a test pipe (down pipe). because i want to get rid of the cat too. now i just have to find out if i want a 4-1 header or a 4-2-1.

W.T.F.

anyways, yes it goes from shorty header, down pipe/cat, then catback. However, if you choose to get rid of the cat and run a test pipe/downpipe, it will throw an annoying CEL light that stays on. I heard of tricks around this method to make it go away using o2 sensor bungs and whatnot.

I heard hp headers have a fitting problem. you have to grind on the frame. but the are a 4-2-1 instead of a 4-1 header.

stock exhaust ftw!
or pay 60 bucks to just have a straight pipe replace the muffler.
sounds decent w/o muffler.

i Do not know were you live. But if you take out your cat. Good luck passing emissions testing. Plus you will through a code. not to mention your car will sound like a weed whacker. I mean if that's what you want then fine. But by doing H/DP/E your just making your car sound like donkey dick IMO. I am not trying to bash your opinion. But around this site you will not be taken kindly for trying to do the cheep rice burner way to make a loud car. Plus cars that sound like that get pulled over. ALOT. But good luck!!! Dont forget your v tac. lol
