which LSD for GSR YS1
depends what your doing. if its a street car that will see the track on occasion and you want something that requires no more maintenance than stock, then go for a torsen/helical like a stock ITR lsd or a Quaife. If track(real track, not the strip) you car on a regular basis then you might want a clutch pack style LSD from Kazz, cusco, carbonetic, etc. these will offer increased performance over the helical/torsen but generally make noise, require special fluids, and they will have to be rebuilt after time. hope this helps.
I'd like to know more on this subject also. There's not much info out there about this trans. I was planning on using the ITR LSD. Some of the baffles on the inside of the case need to be clearanced for the ITR LSD. The only writeup I've seen involved swapping in hydro internals as well. Will the ITR LSD work with the ys1 internals?
I would also like to use the JDM ITR final drive and a S80 5th gear. Can someone confirm that these will all interchange with the ys1 internals?

I would be happy with the type r LSD, would I need a type r final or the 5th gear to make the type r LSD work? The quaife is a nice unit but damn its not very cheap. M_SHAKE would I need to do this to make this work. Come someone chime in?
you can use any aftermarket b16 or ls LSD to bolt on. If you use the Itr LSD you will need a matching final drive set from a itr or a gsr (94 and up). I installed a cusco in my ys1 and needed no clearancing. But when I removed to install a kaaz I did need to grind some of the fins down in the case by the LSD for clearance
i honestly don't know on the cable trannys. on the hydro trannys, if it is NOT a gsr tranny, you have to change to a gsr/itr final drive due to the different bolt pattern. there has to be some sort of info somewhere on the itnerwebz. btw you can pick up a used itr lsd for like 300-400 doll hairs so its a great bang for the buck.
