Coolant leak
I have a 1993 Civic LX, D15B7, 207k miles. I didnt have any problems for quite some time. But last couple of weeks things are popping up.
Today when I went to the parking lot at lunch time, I saw a puddle under the car right from the engine to the Passenger side door. It appeared to be the coolant fluid. On opening the hood I could see water drops dripping from the rear of the engine somewhere between the alternator and the filter. The Radiator appears to be empty but the overflow container has fluid in it. My drive from home to work is about 11 miles.
Any advice on what it could be and add some detail if I need to fixt it myself.
PS. Last week I found out one of the spark plugs had loosened out and had to get it re threaded. I am also hearing some noise from the engine, a combination of lifter and knocking.
Thanks
Dan

I am at work, need to drive it home and then see where the fluid is leaking from. The fluid was dripping from the left rear side of the engine. Not sure if it was leaking from the thermostat side and then drained to the left side.

Fill the radiator back up with water right before your drive home. Hopefully its not too late and it shouldn't freeze. Then when you get home jack it up and check your hoses and where they connect. You may have a ruptured hose or slice somewhere. Have you done any work to it recently?
I live in Florida so weather is ok, It is not that warm so I should be ok with water. I am assuming it is a hose that has a small leak. This is due to the age of the car. I hope it is something simple.

If it's truly coming from left rear, the only thing I can think of is IACV hoses. There are 2 coolant hoses running into that, one of them could have a leak. It's rear center, but it could run to the left I guess.
If not that, then I think it's probably one of your heater hoses.

I tried to limp home doing moderate speed and heater on on, just 200 yards from home there seemed to be a scraping sound as if some metal peice is dragging under the hood. I stopped the car and managed to push it along with a neighbor to my home.
At home I raised it and then poured some coolant in the radiator and tried to see where it is leaking from. Ron as you said, It looks like it is leaking from the water pump. Also I dont know if the engine is toast.
Any advice, should I look for a replacement or fix it and sell it or fix it and use it. This car has served me well for 16 years. It is in good shape and no rust and very clean.

the water pump bearing must of bit the dust. water pumps aren't bad but if you hear a knocking noise it may be time for a new engine... 16 years is quite good for 1 car though
