Default grinding when going into 5th in my GSR

I have to let the RPM's drop to about 2000 when im going to shift into 5th. Can it be my clutch or is tranny problems. The car is a 96 with 120,000 miles on it.

Na not ur clutch sounds like the syncros in ur tranny are worn. Not really a big deal you can try a syncromesh transmission oil they usually do a good job of taking away the grinding and extending the life of your syncros. GM Syncromesh is the most well known ther are a couple other companys that make it.

Swap your tranny fluid out, change it with Honda MTF with GM syncromesh and it will eliminate your grinding.
