Engine is a bone stock d16a6 (for now). This isn't happening all the time, usually once a day.
When I'm coming to a stop, usually after a downshift, with the throttle full shut, I get a check engine light. I get it more often when I have been driving the car a suspended higher rpms (i.e. highway driving).

any ideas?

 

what code are you getting on the ECU?

 

Sounds like your engine is going from closed loop to open loop and looking for a sensor that's either failing, going to fail, or is not plugged in. I suspect the O2 sensor.

 

telling us you have a check engine light but not telling us what code its throwing is about as useful as putting shingles on a ham sandwich

 

once you get the cel. if you turn the car off. will it start? if not then i suspect the fuel pump is crapping out. i had the same ****? but yeah, i would run the code.
