Help crank not turning
so i hav a 90 civic si hatch and a d16z6 duilt to hell and back. runs great til today - i hav been starting it every few days while it is parked for winter and today i went to start it and it turned over 2 or 3 times thena made a loud bang now the crank wont turrn at all i try to start it and the cam pully turns about 1/4 of an inch and sounds like a rod or piston is hitting somthing and wont turn any farther so.... any help would be great - i hav too much money in this engine to loose it to something this screwed up.
skunk 2 chiped ecu, aem cold air intak, high flow cat, 2.5 stainless exhaust, apexi vafr controller, a/f gauge stick cam and pistons as far as i know. i havnt torn it down yet i boucht the engine out of a toatled car and the odomiter red 32k miles so my guess is that it has ben rebuilt at least once but not really much more but sway bars strut bars lowering kit short shift shift light stuff like that but i checked all my grounds today and still same thing
Your car is nowhere near "built to hell and back" and the intake, exhaust, gauges, sway bars, strut tower bars, lowering kit, linkage modifications, shift light, and grounds don't have anything to do with your problem as you say it is.
You need to do some checking to help you diagnose the real problem.
Pull the plugs check for damage.
Drain the oil see if any chunks come out.
There is plenty more of things to do, but we need more information about the motor and not what the car has done to it.

it has alot more done than just what i listed - injectors, cam, cam pully, fuel rail and fuel pressure guage, head port and polish, valves ground, but thats the plan 2moro - pull the engine and then pull pan and head but just trying to figure out what would b stopping it from turning over
sounds like your belt slipped and ur hitting ur valves. recheck ur timing and gor from there, turn by hand before trying the key after you fix the timing, sounds like u have a shity cam gear or u didnt tighten it up
no open timing cover and no it didnt slip its still set to 0 and the oil ya dead nuts on the dot - oil is still damn near new, less than 10 hours on this oil, i changed it b4 i parked it. and the only running the oil has on it is the start ups every few days
well havnt pulled the head yet but did turn the cam and crand but the cam is only turning the crank one turn? im useing the cam and timing belt to turn the crank
Did you pull the oil pan down? I would do that before removing the head.. That wpi;d be your best bet as it doesnt sound like you should be removing a cylinder head by yourself... no offense..
if it was staring and now its not and was running fine then check the starter before you pull your engine out the car. hell without diagnosing it first pulling the motor would be a stupid thing to do, waste of work. Sometimes the biggest problems have a simple answer.
its not the starter - swaped it with another one already - when i was turning it by hand it was hitting something and stopping so.... and i kno what the cam and crand do thanx tho
