knocking noise
okay i have a honda 1992 accord its been sitting for a while in the yard i just started working on it resently puting the timing belt i fix that it started up and it was making a knocking noise seem to be coming from the valves. but i really didnt know. and i checked the oil it wa also low too. so i took it around the block it really didnt have that much power into it with the gas that been sitting in the car. so had less power and the steerinf wheel squeaks when i turn. can sombody tell me wht i should do.
check your power steering fluid squeaking when you turn could mean low power steering fluid, also check your power steering belt, and your pulleys, as for the knocking its probally a rod or piston, does the knocking get louder or worse at high rpms? ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure your car has the right amount of oil, also when the timing belt went bad your motor may have gone with it,did you time it correct, and maybe you should get a valve adjustment cause that could also make a knocking sound, and the loss of power could be one or more of your spark plugs fouled out so check those or maybe it was the bad gas.
okay i will do that. the oil was low in the car but tje light wasnt on. and aslo the the d4 light blinks constantly should i put more transmission fluid in thier or what could be the problem on that.
your sensor could be broke or your light could not work its a 92 so double check if the light still works i have 95 accord and i have ran out of gas cause i have a gas light that is supposed to come on when my gas gets low but turns out it is broke so you never know. what is a d4 light is that. you can check your tranny fluid there is a bolt square in the middle on the passenger side you can get to if you take off your tire look in the hole and if you can see tranny fluid its full if not then add some.

was that a question or just a statement. if you ask me it sounds like your tranny is slipping. i assume the car is an automatic right. i usually deal with manuals, but try and "manually" shift through the gears i know its not really a good thing to do but then you can find out. and you should know if it is not shifting into third gear cause if it is not then you would not be able to go past a certain mph, what does the car do exactly after it shifts to second and tries to go to third? i know even though its an auto it still has a clutch, so your best bet if you have the money is just replace the tranny, but if thats not an option let me know and maybe we can figure something out to try and make your car drive smoother.
Knocking noise eh? Just hope its not the engine...
That happened to my old Accord. It had low oil and I didnt even noticed and it broke something I forgot the name of it. But it wasn't running strong and I noticed the noise and me and my dad rebuilt it. So yeah just hope it ain't the same problem I had..

it definetly sounds like your tranny is slipping. it could be something internal but the only way to find that is is to rip into the tranny. i know its a lot of work but it could save you some money in the long run. a loss of power usually means something is wrong with the motor (spark plugs, distributor, fuel injectors, etc....) but sence you say your engine is running fine now and that you have power is some gears and not others then its definetly your tranny. so are you saying that 1st gear has power but in second gear it looses power? try disconnecting your negitive battery terminal for about 5 min and reconnecting it to see if that will reset that light. if that does not work then try to find the ecu fuse and pull it out for about 10 sec then put it back in and see if that works. if it does not reset then something is wrong. do you know how to pull the codes(jumping the ecu). you said its a 92 so i assume it has obd1 is that right?
yes it is correct could it be that the tcm is bad. because when i shift it manually like go from first to second into d3 it fell as it is shifting well but when i put it in d4 and let it shift from thier then that is when it start to act funnie
yes i do. liek when i shift it manually that when it will boost real goog and drive but when i put it in d4. that where it just bogs.
also my air filter it bad not in good shape could that cause loss in powe5r

a bad air filter will cause a LITTLE loss of power but not what your explaining. after reading your last post yes it might be your tcm or some other sensor. cause you say the car has power and response when you "manually shift", but when you put it in drive thats when it messes up. have you looked to see how much a tcm is, if its not too expensive i would try replacing it, if it doesnt help then either take the part back or leave it cause its always good to have new parts on your car. keep me posted and i will do a little more research and see what else i can find out.
