Default intake piping vs throttle body

two questions pretty much more for the H series BUT anyone with with info please chim in.
1: ive heard that 3.5 intake will make more hp vs 3 inch intake. ok great can someone show dynos of back to back? cuz I cant find any.
also ive been told to get a 70mm t/b minimum for the H thats great also BUT here is what im trying to understand.
2: If the piping is bigger then the T/B is it a waste or do it kinda have more in there all the time acting more of some sort of charge? will it lose velocity? i know all motor is more about velocity.
pretty much a 3 inch intake pipe is 76.2mm already bigger then most t/bs for honda guys. 3.5 inch 88.9mm going right back down into a 70mm t/b.

yea but you gotta think about one thing that you didn't mention, "ram air" the only real difference its gonna make is it may help create that ram air effect and get more air into your tb faster and of more velocity.

i have no dyno's but id like to say that a 3inch with a v stack tuned length will be best, Length is another factor, at least for were some hp may be. I'm using 3in Vstack on my b16

i have a AEM 3 inch cold air with a BPI stack already but just from researching finding alot of H & K guys runing 3.5 pipes. wondering if its worth the upgrade.

I plan on getting two exact intakes made and testing them out. One will be 3" and the other 3.5". Hopefully ill also be able to test out my 65mm tb with a 70mm tb to see which combination works best.

This will be on my stock block h22 also.

But based on previous threads, it seems the 70mm 3.5+" intake combo is making the best power/times.

well im running a
4in pipe at the bellmouth of the veleocity stack.... but then it tappers down to 3in at the tb... the tb size is 70mil

aem v2 set-ups us this theory as well
it also depends alot on thim choice

and the size and lenght also can help put the power where you want it

but im useing a pvc pipe set-up to accomplish this so it doesnt look good but it does the job and it will never heat soak

does it gradually taper or just go from 4 - 3 with a coupler?
i also wondered how a tapered setup would fair

right at the bend where it meets the tb it tapers from 3-4 inside the pvc

u can get couplers that taper from all ranges that are rubber or pvc

interesting thread, but does anyone have some numbers to prove the theory? Is it possible to have intake set up too big? lets say you have a 3.5inch intake with 3.5 inch v-stack on the end, going to a 74-70 mm tb, on a 1.8 liter mild build, 200 hp set up, would you see any benifits or would it hurt the set up , also what part of the powerband would you see the results, good or bad, i know that alot of other factors make a difference on the results, just been thinking about this intake set up ? for some time, any help would be great

if i had a dyno at my disposal, i would def test out diff tb,intake diameter, lenghts and stacks, on a set up to find out,

i think you just answerd it lol shitty/drag car
that takes it away from most street cuz they want the bling factor & drag race cars only run right b4 they go down the 1320.

so im guessing if you dont care about the bling it would be alright!

now we need to find someone wit some 3 vs 3.5 pipe testing.

i know us honda people look for every last hp, but the thing is there is no one answer to say if one if better then the other, its all going to matter on the engine and were it makes it power, which in turn will be at least i would think how you go about length and diameter. im just saying every motor is going to basicaly need something different.

I have a magazine with a b20vtec making like 318hp or something wild and it worked best with like a 4 or 4.5 desil truck intake and filter to work best.
