Default Knocking. W/ Video

I'm trying to find the source of a knock. It's a newly rebuilt block with a head from a motor that broke a rod. I used a stethoscope, thought it sounded like it was coming from the side of the motor around the water pump. I pulled the cover off earlier to run it and see if anything was unusual...

Well.. see for yourself. Warning: The sound will make you cringe. (or maybe that's just me since it's my motor)

Also.. You can't really see in the video but the cam gear is moving around. It's not torqued at the moment, but it's as tight as i can get it by hand.

I'm not really sure what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'd torque the cam gear before i start looking for the noise. are you sure it's not rattling on the cam gear nut?

anyway, could be timing belt tensioner.

I think the bearing for your tension is shot. Or, the tensioner isnt porperly installed. Remove the covers, and ensure its all properly assembled.

hmm, sounds like the valvetrain. Videos only help to a certain extent. You ran the motor with the valve cover off? must've been a mess...

it won't make a mess really that much if you stay at idle. i've seen people do it before to locate a problem.

and no, he was saying he took the upper timing belt cover off
