Default Help Wife is about to beat me!

So I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey. It has a DVD player with rear screen.

I received a new Navigational Stereo as a gift and decided to have it installed. Because it was free..right? It is the Pioneer AIVC-Z1. It has a Hard Drive, Navigation, IPOD support, the works. It is awesome. Or so I thought.

So I had it installed today and in doing so the guys at the installation place told me that the DVD player on the Navigation Unit will not work with this certain Honda Factory Monitor. The monitor takes a digital IN and this until provides an analog OUT. And according to them the there is no Analog to Digital converter that will work with this. So no DVD player. And I need to buy a new monitor. One that will work with this unit. Which kicks is about to add $500 to my bill.

Three kids. Upcoming 1000 mile road trip. Wife not happy.

Now to set things straight, I do not believe that these guys are taking me for a run. They did not charge me to run the cables to the monitor or the time it took to do it. They are not trying to sell me a new Monitor or anything like that. They are pretty respected in the area. And is appears that this was just not foreseen.

So my question is this:

1. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way around it. Other than buying a new monitor.
2. Does an A to D converter (Analog to Digital converter) exist? One that will allow me to use this Analog Navigational system with the digital Honda Factory Model Monitor ? Something that these guys may not be aware of.

thanks

Jack

I don't know of any solution to your problem, but if you don't have enough time to get it all sorted, you could probably purchase those dual-monitor-dvd-systems from Target or Walmart or wherever.

And if you're back from your trip within 30 days, you could return the system.

yeah I appreciate that but I should not spend any MORE money on temporary fix. Just want to fix what we have.

Technically, if you return the DVD player system after purchasing/using it, it would be free.
