Default Quiz: Identify this loose connector!

Just went into the fuse box area under the dash because my driver's side window is stuck down (happens from time to time, but it's freezing out and I can't leave it the way it is) and noticed this. I'm sure it's totally normal, but I'm curious.

Also, any idea why the window switch would intermittently stop working? The motor is fine, and I've taken the switch out and put it back in before with no result. It seems to sort of stop and then start working whenever it wants.

Thanks!

Its a connector to check your codes when the check engine light comes on. Its also used when adjusting timing. By jumping it you stop the electronic advance. It can stay unplugged. It actually only goes into a holder to keep it out of the way.

If the connector is on the driver's side near the dash fuse box, then it's not the service connector.

Switches can wear out and need to be replaced.

My service connector is on the driver's side but I'm pretty sure it's green and is closer to the center stack than the fuse box. Hm...

You're probably right about the switch going bad. Seems strange that it works fine most of the time though, doesn't it?

The typical location of the service connector is on the passenger side just above the ECU:

Yep, I know what you mean, that's the one I use for the old paper clip trick when I get the CEL. But there's a green connector on the driver's side that always seems to be exposed after I get the car inspected that's used to read the stuff they need for emissions. Maybe "diagnostic port" would be a more accurate term for it.

All this still leaves the mystery connector, though! It's blue and located right near where OEM fogs plug in.
