super loud v-tec
so i was driving next to this ef hatch, and he punched it, but his v-tec was like really loud. is there a way i can make my v-tec super loud? kinda a dumb question, sorry, but it was pretty sicc. one of my friends, who totally pulls stuff out of his anus all the time said that you can accomplish this by putting a sullenoid from a b16 on my d15. the ef was single cam as well.

some kids think its cool to be at 70% throttle until they get to where there vtec engages and punched it right at that moment...so incredibly stupid...i popped the airbox on my buddys 3.2 cl type S cause he used to have a '95 Vtec Prelude...we went around a turn as he was pulling his LOUD VTEC trick and when he punched it we slid off the road and barely missed a tree...
i put the airbox back on

i dont get it....
lmfao
good job lol. that might have been it, but still. it seemed like he was full throttle all the way...

okay i have a thread on here but i guess ill mention it too here as well, my engine a b16a2 was swapped in right before i bought it and the vtec hadn't been hooked up yet after i hooked it up i was smilling from ear to ear it screamed but more importantly i could feel the power when it engaged. Then i reran the wires and soldered the connections after i got it working and when i took it out for a test drive i didn't notice a thing when vtec should engage. So i put it up on jacks and tested the oil pressure after the solenoid when vtec should be engaging and i was getting 60-80 psi when it engaged. But the sound and power is not nearly as noticable. Here is a video http://s688.photobucket.com/player.s...fs=1&os=1&ap=1 Sorry for the thread jack but i am getting no replies and i would like to figue this out. The engine has a short ram intake, skunk2 intake mani, dc sports header, and apexi ws2 exhaust, so i would think it should scream when it engages. But why isn't it is there anything that could cause this... Do the fuel injectors get opened more when vtec engages? You can see in the video exactly when it is engaging cause i left the oil pressure tester on but you can hear the engine noise doesn't seem to change at all.

personally you dont want your vtec too loud. if your vtec is engaging loud that means its not running rite. vtec should transition into the power band. yes, should be able to hear it but not like you explained. also, it means the low end is suffering. picture a power band from a dyno. it should increase evenly up(good tune). if theres a big jump in the curve then its not running rite. meaning the power should be up higher not down before vtec engages.
so your saying its not working at all correct. the video sounds like vtec is not engaging at all. you certain your wires are ran properly and not crossed ? if you ran them to the ecu are you sure they are making contact with the pins ? i would just make sure your wires are ran properly. also ive experienced vtec not working if the engine is too cold.

the ground is good i have checked that a few times, it doesn't seem like a wiring problem since the ecu is opening the solenoid and i am getting pressure at the vtec oil pressure test hole. i don't undersatand what could be causing it. If i take the valve cover off to try and do the manual test where you apply air pressure to that same hole and turn the cams to see if vtec is engagin will i have to replace my valve cover gasket. I know whenever you take things like that apart your suppose to replace the gasket but i don't want to waste $20 for something that i have a feeling won't help me at all but right know it is the only other test i can think of
