How far does the rear main seal goes in?
Im having trouble knowing how far does the rear main seal goes in. Does the rear main seal have to be flat with the hole it goes in or do you hammer it all the way in? Also is there a easy way to put the rear main seal in because i notice that you can take off the cover that it goes in and put it in from there. Then you can slide it in where the flywheel bolts onto. Tried it and it goes right it but im scared it might leak because it looks to good to be true. So if anybody that had experience putting the rear main seal in. Please HElP!!!!

I just did a clutch change on the civic i gave to my mom just last year and when I replaced the seal it was a PITA to get out and a PITA to align 100% correctly without those tools. To this day i still don't know if i did it correctly but I don't see any oil leaking out so it must be ok.

Yes you can remove the plate that the rear main seal goes in, but you have to remove the oil pan to get it off. I removed it when I last replaced my rear main seal last year, but I was replacing the oil pan gasket anyway, and had the engine out of the car, so it was pretty easy.
