Default What is the great benefit?

I was just wondering i've seen these setups really often, JDM B16A Block with Gs-R head? and Gs-R block with JDM B16 head? i Personally have this setup B18C1 Block with JDM B16 head full port and polish, crower valvetrain, aebs intake manifold, JG stage 2 cams, Its in my dd 99 EK hatch i don't know if its fast or not because the car barely goes pass 5.6rpm like it bogs like there isnt any fuel what the guy told me is a i need a tune and i got a major oil leak so i need a new headgasket. Previous owner said the the block has 15.xxx miles and the head around 5.xxx miles. Can you please guys explain me the benefit of this? For all motor!
Thank you!

Sounds like you just got yourself into something you have no idea about. Sounds like your car is barely running and you need to take it to a shop to get it fixed. That set up you have should be able to rip to 9k rpm in a split second..

I can only assume you are talking about the tune. You need the tune so that your engine will run correctly. It sounds like you are pushing your luck every time you rev to 5600.

people swap out the block so that they can get the displacement of a 1.8 liter and yes change your headgsket and get it tuned it should be a very noticeable power gain i dont know what you were thinking when not tuning the car after all you done

I dont know i bought the swap like that, but how much power you think i am making more then a stock gs-r right? and how much power you think is jdm b16a block with gs-r head, more then a regular jdm b16a? or gs-r block with jdm b16a head is it more then a stock gs-r? thanks

right now you're probably making a lot less hp than a stock b16a. GSR block with b16a head just alone will be barely more than a stock gsr. If you put a gsr head on a b16 block and still retain a gsr manifold you're actually loosing a little bit of power.

with stock gsr pistons you actually lost about .2 CR.

Basically a poormans R with no a low CR. Put you some P30 pistons in that thing and get a tune and you should have a fun little car.

My built poormans with B16 cams at 3600' elevation was good for 15.0 flat with a basic street tune and no cam gear changes.

I was thinking of tuning my car like that just the way it is and then changing my headgasket. What you guys think? Oh since i lost the cr what does that mean? I'll be slower then a gs-r? or what? Sorry I'm new to this building motors and stuff usually shops did it for me but now im getting into this.

Atco might be a faster track as well. Ours has crappy to no prep. I was on street tires at 32 lbs. No timing tuning at all and not too much street tuning.

I basically put the motor in one night. Drove around the next day for about an hour and then took it to the track. I didn't play with cams at all either.

I know there was a tremendous amount left in that motor with tuning in it I just never got it back to the track afterwards. Even with ITR cams I could have pushed an easy 14.5's with better tires and such.

And if you have lets say 200 whp at sea level and all conditions were the same and you go to 3600 ft elevation you my see around 180ish whp. I mean same air temp, tune, dyno, everything.

OP before you worry about anything you need to fix the leaks and things with that motor before commencing much further. And you did change a few things so a tune would be in the best interest of a lasting motor.

But if you had a 10.4:1 CR gsr and put a B16 head on it with no other changes it would drop to about a 10.2:1 CR due to bigger combustion chambers of a PR3 head compared to a P72 head. If you ever seen a gsr head in the CC you would see why.

Do some reading on it although I do know how the search function has gone to ****.\/
