There are many stores online that have "do it yourself" setups....

I'm pretty sure AFI has a setup too, but I don't know if they ever got it up and running. I remember talking to Jesse about it a few years ago....

http://www.focuser.com/atm/anodize/anodize.html is a good place to start

We are located in Vancouver, WA. We have done business with Apex Anodizing, and I would not recommend them. Not only did they mess up on quite a few parts, but there staff is not very skilled at what they do, nor do they know anything about there anodizing process. They are very hard to deal with when they do mess up, and when they do, they take upwards of up to 4 weeks to fix the problem. They messed up on quite a few electroless nickel pieces which we paid for, and when they ****ed up they did not reimburse us, but told us they would not do it for us any longer. That was also 4 weeks after they had said they would fix the problem. Instead of me getting a call from them, I had to call them, and find out they were not fixing anything and left us to dry. There prices are a tad bit cheaper than some of the other local places, but you will sacrifice quality and customer service. We now deal with Sapa, as well a TFC plating which are just a bit more expensive, but the quality of there work is simply outstanding. I should have gone with them in the first place since I had visited there facilities prior to going with Apex. After I had my run in with apex and started to search around, I found out I was not the only person who has had bad luck with them locally. If you need anything anodized or plated you can send it to me, and I will gladly have it done for you. The parts you have are easy enough. We also deal with STB for our powdercoatings, so if you need anything powdercoated let me know. We do quite a bit of business with these guys. Good luck!

I think you mean Jason, not Jamie. I am pretty sure the 2nd owners name isn't Jamie. Jason answers the phone most of the time, so I am pretty sure you mean Jason. They do all our powdercoating, they are one of the best in the Northwest. They are capable of far more than just powdercoating. They offer ceramic coating, as well as do this really crazy water ink process that is just plain sick. They do work for companies such as smith goggles, and other big name companies. The guys at STB have gone above and beyond when it comes to taking care of us and making sure we are putting out a perfect product. They make sure each piece they send us is absolutely flawless, and they also take the time to package all our parts so we can transport them back to the shop safely. Actually last week we picked up about 24 or so of our strutbars we had them powdercoat, and they let us use there packing material, and tape to box up the strutbars at there location before loading it in our truck. The shape of the bars made them impossible to stack on top of eachother or side by side without taking a risk at damaging the coating. So before we could load them up we had to package them in the boxes we had purchased for them so they would be well protected. It saved us a bunch of time as well since I did not have to package them later on. They actually sat at STB for a few days till the boxes I had ordered arrived. But when they did arrive they let us package it there and they were more than welcome to the idea, and supportive. I even offered to pay for the tape I used and packing material, but he refused. That's customer service, shoot Jason even started helping me box them up.

TFC plating also has the largest electroless nickel tank on the west coast.

No, I meant Jamie at apex, wasn't talking about STB.

For ceramic coating, we have always gone through Mr. Meeks at finish line coatings.

We are actually getting ready to start sending our objects for powdercoating to a local place over here in Woodburn. A lot closer for us and just as effective.

Jamie is cool as hell, but really lacked the authority to fix anything. I feel bad for the guy since he has got to be in the middle. He has to go through Matt which is the owner, and it seems like he is never there and always gives the run around. Luckily you have not had any big mistakes, these are not small mistakes. When you screw up 60 pieces+, and take over 5-6 weeks to resolve the problem, then it's a problem. I don't even think they offer a R-5 process at Apex. I've done probably over 100 parts with them, and never again.

I don't get anything extruded by Sapa. Funny, I know quite a few people that use Sapa, and rave about there extruding. They also supply quite a bit of companies with there extrusions. I took a tour of there facility, and their anodizing, welding, and machining is pretty top notch. They manufacture some crazy parts over there, and I've seen there work first hand. It's too bad you had a bad experience with them. If the cost of extrusion wasn't soo freaking high then I'd look into it.

Well, it wasn't exactly first hand experience. I worked at a jobshop finish machining some amp covers, Sapa did the initial extrusion. I wouldnt be surprised if sapa is fantastic at extrusion, the company the parts were for constantly haggled us on the price of those things. I'd bet Sapa just lowered quality to keep in line with the price point. The worst parts were L shaped, roughly 5x3, and ~1/8" thick, and intended to interlock to create a case.. they consistently required bending back to 90, and were ALWAYS twisted. At any rate, I probably put more blame on them than is fair. Luckily that job is long in the past.. :D

thread is pretty hijacked at this point. Any way, most anodizers have a minimum setup fee. For rim screws, its probably far more cost effective to find new screws already in the color you're looking for.
