Speed VS safety equipment?
its a good idea to just get what you need. Instead of having to worry about if tracks will let you race or not. i kick myself in the *** everytime i see my car with a 6point haha
oops, sorry. if you need a roll bar, you need a scatter shield is what i was told. so 11.49.
also dont forget about the steel valve stems instead of rubber valve stems. even if you are using oe wheels.

the ones in our application are not even sfi spec but then again so the scatter shields are not either, but as far as i know the only part that nhra tracks are enforcing that is not sfi spec is the harmonic dampener.
and now since there is no nhra sc, i dont think we have to worry about much sfi stuff as far as "engine" parts go but some may disagree. this is in comparison to rwd cars running similar times, which need a sfi bellhousing, sfi harmonic balancer, sfi scatter shield, and im sure im missing some.

thses threads are great and informative, but if people are goin fast and having to ask these questions, they need a rulebook. go to nhra.com and get one, i did. its great to have.

woops pic is too small. here is another look at it. some old pics I took for our for sale post.

Don't wait until the track officials tell you that you need a certain thing to race. Research on your own and check out the NHRA rule book like boostedcivicsir said. Its your own safety and you should take time into looking at whats needed. Its best to do it than wait for any accidents to happen. Better to be prepared now.
I have one for you.
Two cars going down the track, in the left lane midway the motor let go and pushed the connecting rod out of the block. The rod went across the track into the right lane and took out the valve stem and sent the other car into the wall. The guy had rubber valve stems.
You never have enough safety equipment.
Be SAFE GOOD LUCK and go FAAAASSSSST.

Well I have never raced my car on the motor thats in it now. I have never run faster than twelves but hope to this year if things go right. Thanks for the info though I think I am going to get me a rule book now.
are you saying this really happened or hypothetical? i'd say the chances of getting hit by a meteorite would be more likely.
