I have a 94 bd7..I installed a 01 GSR motor last June..Everything is wired correctly, vtec kicks in,using a 95 P72..The problem is that about a week ago the car all of a sudden wont rev past 3500 RPM.If I try to go past that ill just stay stuck at that RPM and will start kinda like to sputter..It runs really ugly, kinda bogs out and real slow.
Happened after I went to the carwash. My hood was propped up.So Im thinking water messed up some sensor but which one so I can replace it(dont recommend any1 proping their hood up)lol
Is it the IAt or IACV...Also would a 99 Ex one fit?

Insufficient oil pressure will cause a "limp mode" that limits revs and prevents vtec.
I always love it when my 00 GSR decides to lose oil pressure during an auto-x run, and limits me to 3.5k rpm until I get back to grid to reset the ECU. I run 1/2 qt over the top line on the dipstick now.
I've also had a similar experience when my knock sensor threw codes during a 105* track day. Car had no power and wouldn't rev past 3.5k. 105 octane and an ECU reset, and was fine for the rest of the day.

My speedo is working fine..I can see how fast I go but it just wont pass 3.5 rpm..So TunerN00B do you think by adding oil and reseting the ecu illwork?I unpluged the ecu and repluged it and ill run ok for like 10 min if i try not to pass 3.5 rpm..If i try ill instantly start running bad and not let me rev past it.Then ill stay running bad..
Or would replacing the IACV fix my problem?

Pull the codes, and see what the computers tells you is the problem.
Asking for more help, without doing so, is pretty much a waste of time.
I provided a few scenarios under which such behavior happened to me. I don't remember the codes, as I simply cleared the ECU and continued on my day. But, it definitely triggered a CEL each time.
