Anyone have or had PIAA headlight bulbs?
Any size, just need to know if you liked them. Do they last, look good, temp color, worth the price? I am looking at a 9003?H4 set that fis my need perfectly, but they are pricey.. I was gonna do HID, but bought a set from a seller on here that didn't work at all. And I figure since I don't have glare shields and HIDs on a 24 year old car may be a little much. Let me know of ANY experiences you've had with PIAA headlight bulbs only. Thanks!!
From what I was told from a lighting consultant, they are over-priced and poorly made and plus they are blue-tinted so they actually rob light output. The best H4/9003 bulb is Osram 70/65. They're great and what I have. They're better than Osram Nightbreakers or Phillips X-treme Power.

Last? 8 months as low beams, which is really good for an overpowered, tinted high beam bulb used as the low beam headlamp.
Look good? They light the road. How does a bulb "look good"?
Temp color? It was close to the advertised 5000K thanks to blue coating robbing total light output. They were about as bright as the OEM 9006 bulbs, which is crap for a bulb that is supposed to be 70% brighter (9006 should be 1,000 lumens and 9005 1,700 lumens).
Worth the price? Hell no. Why pay so much more, for less usable light? No more lame ricer bulb coatings for me, I like being able to see at night.
Well, I am interested in a pair of PIAAs for a specific reason, but the price is kicking me in the *****. My situation is most aftermarket H4s are like 90/100W, which is way to hot for my application. I've already cracked 2 lenses. My lenses are only 4x6, super small. I need 55/65W, which the PIAAs are. The other thing is color. Most are tinted blue, like my current ones, and leave a blue tint during daytime when turned off. These have a mirror chrome finish, and leave no blue look when off. I want really white light too, similar to HID but I'm not gonna hassle with HID again for this old car. The PIAAs are rated 4800k. Here are some pics of my headlight applications;

I have tried so many bulbs, Nokya, Matrix, Silverstar, and several others I can't remember the name of, and cheap ebay ones. By far the best for whiteness and visibility was the Matrix Ultra White in my application, but they were super hot. This car is not a daily driver, only during the weekends or grocery store runs in the spring/summer. So the headlights don't get used as much as a dialy driver would.

I had PIAA on me RSX before. I liked them. They lasted about 7 months. The type I beleive were 4000k extreme white. The light output was way better than stock. Now I am working on a retro. Temporarily got aftermarket projectors with a hid kit. Tired of replacing headlight bulbs a few times a year. So going to go HID. Some say to check out osram and phillips. I think because the price is cheaper and there just as bright or brighter an quality is same or better.
i had a set of PIAA GT-X bulbs, i LOVED them, purpleish low beams and WHITE high beams, heres some wall shots from them
Lows

Highs

my drivers side low just went out after 8 months but thats because the wire hit the PS pump and the fuse didnt catch it and it melted the filiment. I paid 34 shipped of Ebay, idk what you people are talking about not worth the price, thats cheaper tha silverstars, i had absolutely no complaints about these lights and will probably get them again. They lit up the road very well with the highs on even with my poorly adj. lights. the lows were decent to for being that purple color. BTW, the ligh on the road isnt that purple

I forget the model numbers(I think they are both Extreme white H4), but I have had Piaa bulbs in the Civic and in my truck for years. The color is great, and they last well. The only ones that burnt out was one that was old and the other the housing was broken and some moisture got it. The price I got them for was not bad, I really don't think I'd run any other replacement bulb..
The previous owner of my car had PIAAs in the headlights when he sold them to me. I think that the increased wattage of those bulbs generated so much heat it started to melt the chrome off my projectors.
For the amount of light output it wasn't worth it, especially compared to Sylvania Silverstars (which have rebates) and Toshiba HIRs (which outperform all of them by far).

85ZC, what would be best for you is to buy a set of replacement lamps to use.

Hella free form lens, no diffuser. This will make normal powered bulbs shine more light on the road, reducing the need for plastic melting high powered bulbs. Street legal in the US. You should be able to find one in the correct size.
I pulled that image from http://www.rallylights.com as they have a large selection of replacement lamps.

You're full of fail.
Take your misleading and uninformative advise of purchasing overpriced bulbs purple bulbs and leave this forum. You have no business being here as everything uve posted has been the wrong information by far.
To answer the OP's questions, PIIA's are your overpriced 5 bucks ebay bulbs. The reason why they sell it at that price is because there are morons everyday like slowmatic who buys from them.
The HID kit your have does work. Take a full picture of it, and I'll tell how to install it step by step and have a minimal glae for oncoming traffic.

you do realize that only half the bulb has colored glass right? Its not a fully purple bulb. I dont quite see how my opinion is worng information, your just looking for a way to bash what im sayinh. Atleast i posted pics of what they look like nd you can quite tell the high beams are white. The low beams are bright they dont light up the road well but for purple bulbs they do well. they lasted me 8 months and when i fired the one bulb which was my fault not the bulb both looked fine save for the fried element.

Just because you like yours yet you give misinformation to others, they should not be penalized for your lack of informationa nd knowledge. You paid $30, that's fine. Just don't make others pay $30 or more just because they and you don't know crap of what the real deal is.
