Icon7 Went to track low time!!!!

I have a 94 gsr completey bone stock, lowered on RSR springs with crappy tires. I was a little upset, cause i ran a fastest time of 16.2 with a 2.500 60ft and trapped a low 85MPH. The car only has 97,000 miles and runs fine no leaks what so ever. Now i guess its understandable due to the fact that my rear struts are bad so the car sits lower in the back and the tires spin like crazy when i shift to 2nd gear. They spin and when i get traction in 2nd its like the car jumps a lil then picks up again. I also noticed today that one of my motor mounts was bad. I was expecting at least a mid 15, but my question is, Is my 60 ft where it should be for a stock gsr , and if the time seems fair enough considering my struts, mounts and tires the way they are? Also what should a stock gsr be trapping? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you've got a GSR? Those times are more like what I'd expect on my LS. Your 60ft time is slow too. You 60ft should be under 2.3, and your ET should be in the 15s.

What RPM are you shifting at from 1st to 2nd? What RPM are you launching at? How much wheelspin are you getting at launch? Are you driving AROUND the water box? Most importantly, are you double-clutching like you should.

when my GSR was bone stock it did 15.1s like clockwork. with a K&N it became 15.0 and always around 92.5mph

I think part of your problem is your drag racing a stock fwd car.

first time to the track? stock gsr should run mid 15s to low 15s. also, dont double clutch...that will slow you down. power shift, its when you shift without letting your foot off the gas. its gonna be alil harder(missing gears) but once you get the hang of it...it will be easier. also, dont do it too much on a stock clutch cuz it will wear out faster.

You answered your own questions.

Crappy Tires
Bad 60ft
bad motor mount
Tires spinning at the launch

For every 0.5sec gain in 60ft, you can knock off about 0.8 off the 1/4 mile time.

Don't expect too much. You have alot of factors going against you. What do you expect. Just have to work at it and fix those issues and it'll turn out better once you do.

Seriously?

Those traps are kinda low for a GSR.
Your 60 foot is also terrible! Are you just revving the motor and dropping the clutch?

Work on launching the car and shifting and that should get you into the 15's at least!
Then fix all your problems and you will be golden.
Good luck!

To add to all this, you should be able to get into the 15s without abusing the car. No need to power shift, or dump the clutch at 9k...

yes i know the time is low and yes its a gsr. i launch at 3 with minimal wheel spin, i shift to second at around 7600-7800 and i spin the hell out of my tires. Yes, first time at track and i do not go through water box. I burn out just enough to warm the tires. Next time i will try shifting to 2nd a lil sooner and hopefully fix the probs by then. But what RPM should i launch at, and any other pointers you guys can give me. Funny thing is my friend also has a gsr I/H/E street tires also. His 60ft is 2.62 and i always tree him all the time and he runs 14.9 all day, so WTF!!!!!

Here's a thought. Have your buddy drive your car and see what he runs.

However not trying to get this thread side tracked but I highly doubt that car with those mods runs 14.9 with a 2.6 60' foot..................
