whats your new ride after your type r got STOLEN and are you happier??
just curoius to those people who have had their itr stolen what ride are you driving now?? where did it get stolen? how much did insurance give you? and did you get a new car or get a itr again??
i just thought this thread was funny because if you answer all of the questions asked you might end up saying something like "yeah i had a PY ITR, stolen from my house in highland park, chicago, and yes i bought another one so please come steal this one too." lol
I haven't been on this site for... 4+ years since my ITR was stolen.
I never did get a replacement. I ride my Honda VFR or drive my wife's Toyota Solara (it really is just basic transportation).
My ITR was stolen out from in front of my house. In the driveway, not the garage. It was the second theft attempt in 6 months, so I should'a betta known betta...
Insurance gave me fair value on it, I guess. The money couldn't bring it back, which is probably why I didn't get another one right away. I looked, but there wasn't an ITR for sale that I wanted.
So, I frittered the insurance payout on various things... Now, all this time later, I miss that car. I looked at the FS thread here and... I dunno... I guess I hoped that people would have stopped stealing ITRs so much. I mean, my 98 would be a 11-year-old car now. Won't thieves leave 'em alone?

My first one was stolen in NYC. Got back exactly what I paid, after being investigated by the insurance company.
While working at a Honda dealer, found my motor swaped into a civic. By that point I had gotten friendly with the local NYPD. The new "owner" never did get his car back.

Any piece of pond scum out there can get a $500 EG Civic hatchback. And then dump every last nut and bolt from the (stolen) ITR in it, and, have a competent street car for little to no expense. Other than the price of the Civic beater and plates.
And that is the #1 reason ITR's, B16 SI's, and, GSR's have always been huge theft targets. Now it's actually worse than ever. Because there are less DOHC VTEC cars floating around to be pillaged and the price of an older civic has never been lower.
When you buy a modern performance that has no black market following, usually the car can be driven and parked in public places without living under the constant fear of having to look after your car like you do with an ITR.
A buddy just bought a 50k mile, 1 owner 88 5.0 mustang, just to have a fun little street car.
he misses his R greatly.
another local i went to school with got an s2k afterhis disapeared. both were stolen OUT of locked garages. suspected the same group of theives

fun until you try to stop or take a corner. i've owned that same car and the c4 corvettes will kill one. they are also giveaways now a days. still a 50k mile 5.0 is a nice car. you also don't have to worry about theft with either domestic like your do an ITR.
I'm from Trinidad and its very ironic what happens where you guys are to what happens here. There is car theft in Trinidad but no one seems to want my car. I have a '96 Spec JDM ITR and I have no alarm or anything and it sometimes sleeps in the street outside my house unlocked.
I guess with only 6 DC2 Type Rs among a population of 1.2m there is little or no demand for my parts.

2004 Honda S2000... loved it.
1991 NSX... loved it even more.
BUT those cars will never be the same, S2000 didn't feel as peppy, and the NSX had only 10000 miles so I babied it too much to enjoy it.
I was 21 or so when I had my Type R... I don't think I can ever get that boy racer back so no car will ever be the same.

My insurance agency screwed me. I got next to nothing compared to what was spent in the purchase and build.
1993 Honda Prelude. I payed $2200 for it an have since replaced exhaust an tires an I do not plan to put a penny more into it.
214,000 miles.
No ac (I ripped out the broken ac box)
Body damage, interior is beat to ****
Looks like crap, sounds like crap.
Preludes before I got my R was my fav car. Its now a stereo holder and transportation. I dont give one ounce of **** about it. If it died, my only complaint would be buying something else an registrating/insuring it. Cars will not be the same till I have another R. There is not another car that will replace it, cept maybe a Skyline GTR but I dont see many of those for sale in the US

After I caught some thugs trying to steal my caR, I sold it and replaced it with an '08 Infiniti G37... Lots of torque, rwd, and plenty of fun to drive, but I miss my R and still hang around this site. If I had a 2 car garage I definitely would have kept it. Luckily, the person who bought it lives far away, so I don't have to see it riding around... Sigh.
Mines was stolen from my driveway. Never had a theft attempt till that point. My girl slepted on it that night and didnt block it and boom it was gone. Insurance denied the claim so i guess im screwed at the moment. Im working on her right now getting it back to her her glory but i hate driving everything else. It isnt the same...
The motor in mine is still dead and needing a build for now but, reading all this makes me cringe.
Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere so it's well protected. God forbid it ever get stolen I'd still have to have another R. There's just nothing like a DC2R.
