I have to pass on this one. It sucks, but finances prevent me from attending. I'll definitely be at VIR though! Yeah baby, final race of the inaugural ECHC season, and last race with my rookie stripes!

What hotel is going to be ECHC central, or are we all staying at Yack's place?

There's a Hilton (think? maybe its a Sheraton) at University Plaza (or is it University Place?) that's pretty close by and there are a ton of places to eat near by.

I will be registering. I think Lowe's is the one track I can probably be competitive against the IT prepared CRX's in H4 in the showroom stock Si (of course unless it is sold).

I am SO there.

The old 1-st gen Integra will hopefully make a triumphant return to ECHC competition, with the help of OPM's magic touch. That is, provided all goes well at Road Atlanta the weekend before (fingers crossed!)

Can't wait to see you all again

I'm in. Just registered this morning.

Anybody know of any group hotel rates for the weekend? This "no camping" thing is a bummer.

Uh, where are you getting that information from? There is no set standard as to when a racer loses his rookie stripes (i.e. after a certain number of events). The decision to remove rookie stripes lies with the rookie chief (aka, me) based on subjective evaluation. Since I currently am sans racecar, I couldn't observe anybody at CMP, and won't be at Lowes either, so I will defer that decision to Karl and/or Scott if it was overwhelmingly important to the driver involved. Since they don't slow you down, I can't see keeping them for one more event being that much of an issue.

That isn't to say that I don't think there is a good chance that you could lose the stripes after the VIR race, but it isn't a given.

Misinformation. My comment was more in regard to finally getting out there, not so much "losing the stripes".

Diane-

We are looking into a group block for campers across the street. I believe they also have camping sites. I will ask Wild Horses Racing to look into that for us also.

Lyonel will be signing up shortly here - please let us know where everyone is planning to stay and this is a no camping venue maybe if we could all agree on something we could negotiate a group discount (?) with the selected hotel - we know nothing of the area and always camp as hotels are expensive -any more feedback would be good- the already suggested hotels sound fine but whats the general consensus on which to opt for? Just as well though Lyonel was feeling kind of bad (this is Danielle) as that Sat is our 1 yr wedding anniversary and he felt kind of bad going racing and sleeping in the back of the truck as my anniversary gift- damn I'm a cool wife...

Heeeeyyy Congratulations on your anniversary! I *thought* there was camping at the campgrounds across the street (someone correct me if I am wrong) for the Speedway. Maybe Jim (WildHorsesRacing) has more details on this.

And yes, you are the coolest

Yeah, Danielle is one cool wifey.

But don't let her fool you guys. She is perfectly happy with spending her anniversary at the track. Her only issue would be the fact that she isn't driving.
And if Lyonel wins, the Champagne is free!!!

Hey... How about bringing the Type R and getting some seat time in the advanced group DK?
(Yes, Danielle drives a Type R).

the link posted is the closest campground to the track.

There are several (5+) hotels within 1.5 miles of the track and many more within a reasonable drive.

I will be staying at the house (~9 miles away) and would be more than glad to get some hotel info if asked.

This links below provide 'some' area info.

Any area questions can be answered....

YES! there is camping...

We are blocking off a bunch of campsites at the campground across the street, I think the price is $15 or $20 a night. It is between the speedway and Tom Johnson camping center - full hookups and showers, etc... literally across from the main entrance of the speedway.

For those of us with tents instead of campers, would we feel the need to break camp everyday to be sure nothing "walked" off while we were at the track? I'd like to camp, but don't want to worry about my campsite during the day.
