Default Any risk in tuning just one cylinder with rest off?

My idea is to disconnect the fuel injectors and spark plugs from 3 of the 4 cylinders in the engine I'm testing with a third party ecu. The reason for this is to isolate cylinder specific characteristics, making tuning easier. Since there are a lot of variables to try out on an engine such as injector CC, injector timing, timing, spark timing, and possibly cam timing, (did I leave something out), I would prefer testing this all on one cylinder and once I get it worked out, port the data to the other cylinders, then fine tuning it from there.

There is a way you can tune cylinders independently. In hondata its called Individual Cylinder Trim. You need to have 4 widebands to do it. The way that you are wanting to do it wont work

eCtune also has an individual cylinder fuel trim & ignition setup. You do not "NEED" 4 wide bands. You can do it with one if that's all you have, it just takes longer. I am going to be using 2 to do my car. But no matter what in order to tune one cylinder at a time you still require all 4 cylinders to to be operating. Or the engine won't run to tune.

You can do what your looking to do with all 4 cylinders running. First you have to get your basic tuning done so that the car will run properly. The you go about tuning individual cylinders. You will need to squeeze all of your tuning tools into the primary header tube of the cylinder you want to tune. Place your Wideband O2 &/or EGT probe so that it will only read from one cylinder. It would make it easier to have 4 sensors but not exactly cost effective for a DIY guy.
