a/c fan won't turn off even after car's not running!

a/c fan won't turn off even after car's not running!
the a/c fan is the one closest to the compressor, right? anyway it won't turn off, i have to remove the battery for it to turn off. a/c is running fine, it's just the fan that won't cut out. what could this be? thanks.
