Default Think it'll be a beast?

Just got off the phone with one of my best friends. He drives a 93DX hatch w/a J-spec TypeR motor. 5 or 6 of my friends have the same set up in 92-95 hatches, and they've been pulling on him constantly, I even pull on him in my 93 Si hatch (DOHC VTEC, but not a TypeR) on the straight on the freeway, we pull away every time. He's using a fuel pump but no regulator or fuel controller, exh/header/filt/p28 chipped, most likely running way to rich. After 2 months, he's had enough, dropped his car off at our local performance shop, to have everything tested, leakdown and compression came back very positive, strong numbers. He's now dropping in Crower 402's, valve springs/retainers, slight portwork, regulator, Jun header, 2.5 inch exhaust, Mugen thin headgasket, and VAFC. I think it's payback time, and we're getting anxious.........think it will be a beast? Has anyone seen any dyno numbers using the Jun header?

you said Crower

beast yeah sure.................theres more to making a "beast" than just throwing expensive parts on a car , you have to get the most out of those mods with tuning and careful planning

as for me my car would never be dropped off anywhere , I would be doing it or having someone with more knowledge of the install helping me

most of this board feels the same way..........try the eg/del sol forum maybe

his timing might be off? enough fuel? who knows, i had the same problems at first with my swap

as for not trusting no one but close friends, couldnt have said it any better. especially here in sd, where everyone is out to screw everyone.

We've all done our own swaps, including my friend doing his own. When it comes to porting, we're not going to "practice" on a 98 TypeR head, not worth it. The guy performing the upgrades has been a friend of ours for over 6 years, done plenty of other work for all of our friends. He's got a dyno appt in two weeks at Dynamic Auto. As far as telling me where to post, it was a question about a TypeR motor, so I tried here, wondered if anybody had experience with a Jun header. Thanks for your .02 there Doc...............
