Can someone give me a check off list of why the Maint Req light might be on?

It just came on today after a 40 mile round trip drive.

perform a search, this issue has been covered literally hundreds of times. The light is programed to come on at certain mileage points, you can turn it off by feeling under your dash below the steering wheel, there will be a button push it until the light flashes then the light will go away. The light really means nothing as long as you are current on all of your routine maintenance for the mileage of your engine, if something was wrong you would have a CEL.

 

Incidentally, CEL = Check Engine Light

yeah i tried searching but my search was down for some reason it just wasnt working

 

when was the last time you reset the light?

 

As you add on the mileage it goes off alot.
