Dulling headlight's...what's the fix?!!
Okay, I heard the only way to get the dullness to go away was to get some 1000grit sandpaper and some plastic polish. I polished one of my high beam lenses with the sandpaper, and then went over that with the plastic polish...now it looks worse! Did I miss a step?
Just use plastic polish, I wouldn't use sandpaper unless you really know what you are doing.
You could even use a more aggressive car polish if you would like.

use 1500 grit with water (wet sand) then use plastic polish. I did mine recently and they came out look'n new.
usually you work your way up when sanding, lower grits (like 1000 which is still pretty fine) for the bigger scratches, then 1500, 2000, 3000, ending with a polish.
what you did is fine. just move on now to the finer grits.
your auto parts shop should have these "automotive" grade papers.

when my headlights look a little dull, i use regular car wax(hint car wax works great on windows!!) but if its real dull, my friend actually tried using meguiars scratch x! and it turned out great, so i use scratch x on my headlights now! give it a shot, you'd be surprised
I use a very small buffing wheel (made by 3M) that's about the same size as the headlight. Fits on any drill. Mild compound followed by wax and mine look good as new. Yay! my first post

It seems like nobody notice that toothpaste is one of the best cheap polishing material. I tried it before and it works very well compare to copper polish. Since your light are originally clear you only need to use something very fine to polish it.
Get those tartar control toothpaste, they have more mini particles that will do a good job.

I have a tube of Scratch X laying in the garage.. I also have a tube of toothpaste thats almost empty in the bathroom that I can just take up to the garage and use on the headlights .. I guess I'll try both and see if it works out well
Okay, I just wet sanded my one high beam lens with 1500 grit (the 1st time I used 1000 grit and it looked like *****). It does seem a little less dull, but not as clean as I want it. Tomorrow I'll have to find some 2000 grit and do the process all over again.
Hey,
I have like the same thing on my 94 integra... but it really looks like the dullness/dirtyness is on the inside of the headlight?? and since u cant really get access to the inside, I have no idea what to try? maybe take the headlight assembly out and try the same kind of toothpaste thing AND use a toothbrush to reach inside and clean?? lol
Thx!
