Icon2 Who copied who?

I was really close on getting a spoon S2000 until I saw a BMW Z4 Coupe on the street.
They look almost identical to me (S2000 w/spoon hardtop and BMW Z4 Coupe)
What came around first? the hardtop or the Z4?

(will take down pics at owners request)

I think BMW had the M Coupe before the S2000 was available. And it is just by chance that the new generation, the Z4, resembles the Spoon setup.

i would go with spoon being the first on this one...but great minds think a like and no one copied anyone. and i don't think the z4 top is a two piece.

only reason i say Spoon is because it is raced designed and car companies tend to use race technology to design vehicles, so its possible BMW liked the design...but i'm a honda nutswinger and no nothing about bmw racing.

I was just posting some cars that have similar lines to the first two. A fastback design is nothing new.

The spoon hardtop was deaf out first, and they do look very very simular.

I would take the M coupe myself =D I know you guys hate those cars, but I like the newest year m coupe styling allot. Well, everything but the front end that is... They have nice interrior styling as well, and I just love that *** end. There new tail light design is just ****. I am really into lighting design, it usually plays a big role when I decided how I want my car to look. Maybe I'm just a dork.

I'm pretty sure the Spoon hardtop came out first. But if you want my opinion, I think the idea for the Spoon hardtop came from this:

S800 Coupe

I could totally be wrong too, but I definitely see it...

the spoon/mooncraft hardtop is ugly, makes accessing the trunk harder, and is overpriced.

the z4 coupe is f'ing sweet... but also overpriced, has a usable trunk, and their seats aren't stolen as much.
