B18A1 build
I'm planning on building a B18A1 for my EG.
I'm planning on keeping the bottom end stock, aftermarket cams, cam gears, springs and retainers, and boosting it.
I'm looking to get to 225-250 hp, nothing huge just enough for fun.
Do I need to change the rods and pistons for this set-up, or can I keep the bottom end stock with what I'm looking to get?

Well The bottom end should be good for about 240 hp,Worth mentioning, change out the Rod Bolts and Head bolts with ARP Studs. Bottom end should be able to hande it. What are you planning on running as far as Cams/Springs/Retainers etc...? what are you going to Tune it with?
haven't thought about who yet, I was thinkin skunk 2 for all the above. I need something relatively cheap, but not ebay cheap. I don't know too many companies for this, and I'm doing the whole thing by myself. I just don't wanna spend more than 700 total on the head. Would a T28 get me to my goal, or should I go T3/T4?
I would say to get good power and not to expensive, go with Blox cams and supertech valves/valve springs etc... and just a T3/T4 will do wonderful for you. A guy i work closely with has a B18A1 T3/T4 set up tuned with Crome.. pulls around 225 wheel hp. thats his daily driver. perfect. Crome is the way to go on tuning if u dont wanna spend an arm and a leg.

Head over to www.inlinefour.com and check out their cams. They have Crower non-vtec turbo cams. $400 bucks! thats a good deal. If u want a pretty good head package other than the blox/supertech, go buddy club!
idk but i used to get clowned on when i first started doing my first swap with alot of questioning.lolz but i just want to say that it's really complicated if u dont know exactly wat ur doing n wat u want and wat ur plans r.
but, GL on ur swap bro!

crower makes a great stage 2 turbo cam, short duration, low overlap (less than 15deg), i believe about 0.469 lift on both intake and exhaust. if your goal is only around 250hp you should be able to make that all day on less than 10psi out of a properly sized t3/t4
over in the forced induction forum a lot of guys running ls-t b18a and b18b with stock bottom say that its good for 300whp 350 pushing it to the limit so running 225 to 250 should be fine but deff look into those arp headstuds at the very least so your head doesn't float.
YES YES YES!!! its mainly a safety precaution. Im sure that you do not want to have to remove the head again and mess with it. When boosting, its always good to do that. even with high-hp all motor or nitrous setups, keeps the head from floating
its the power that kills motors not the ammount of boost.
had a stock ls motor (aside from custom grind cams) make 407whp and hold it.... that motor is still running in someones car today just without boost. it made 407 for a solid 6 months. constantly beating
as well as my ls motor in my civic track car that makes over 600whp on stock sleeves. completely built otherwise but still stock bore stock sleeve
just goes to show that motor reliablilty lies within the tuner
12 lbs from what size turbo? you cant pick a safe psi for him to rune because you dont know what size turbo he is running... say he puts a damn bw s372 on there... 12 lbs would make well over 250.

Yeah, but the 12lbs or so was just on a T3/T4 like i said earlier in the thread. he is just wanting something to play with. not something that is a complete drag car.
