94 GSR Engine Timing Chaos
Sorry if this is not in the right forum i was tempted to go to the turbo section but it was more or less engine mechanical that i am having a problem with.
94 Integra GSR
10.1 Compression pistions
Skunk2 Stage 2 Camshafts
Skunk2 Valves
Skunk2 Dual Valve Springs/Caps/Retainers
The head was just shaved ( =/) and redone with a mild port and polish.
Stock cam gears
I have done many timing belts on hondas and never ran into this problem. I am trying to set the timing on the engine and no matter what i do i can not get the timing right on the dot.
I have tried to manually tension the belt, retard/advance one cam gear or the other to try and manually get it into specification but just can not get it.
No matter how i try to tweak it the cams are always right on the dot but the crankshaft is about half a tooth off, maby a little bit more. Or vise versa if you line the crank up and look at the cams.
The timing belt has 126 teeth, water pump 22 as a normal GSR should.
I'm helping a friend build his motor and am kinda freaked out with his compression ratio as high as it is, the block being shaved, and camshafts with a higher lift... I dont wana be off at all and have to face bending valves or something worse. There is also a complete turbo setup on the vehicle but that is a whole different problem lol. For now just wana get this portion corrected.
I'm almost wondering if it is necessary to get adjustable cams in order to correct this problem or if it is just that i have been having a bad week.
Looking for any input that may prove useful or even something that i could have over looked. Tried searching on here and google and didn't seem to find anything really useful but like i said i could of over looked it.
~Thanks~
