Default help on how to switch obd2 to obd1 b16a

im a swap a b16a obd2 into a eg coupe. right now it has a d16z6 can i use the same harness or do i need a jumper. also can i use the d16 ecu or it wont be as good. or can i just get the whole harness and put it in.

the other thing is does the shift linkage fit on the b16 or does it need a different one.

you CAN use the stock harness but there are some things thatt need to be wired in.
and u have to get si shift linkage, the d series is too weak

you can also get an obd2 gsr harness and plug in a obd1 b16 ecu

it works!

U will need an OBD1 to OBD2 jumper, or U can run an OBD1 P72 or a Chipped P28.

You can use the same harness. You will need a different shift linkage.

Knock sensor will need to be wired in (if using a stock P30 or P72), as well there are some connector differences to sort out, more on this later.

Its not weak, it just doesn't fit. You can use both a '94 - '01 integra linkage, or a '99 - '00 Civic Si linkage.

Yes you can

If you decide to run an OBD2 ECU with a jumper harness. (bad idea IMO) Use a JDM OBD2 ECU, USDM OBD2 ECUs will be looking for sensors that aren't on there, including a fuel tank pressure sensor that can only really be taken care of by swapping the fuel tank. Also, you can run a P30, which honestly should have been the obvious choice seeing as how its the correct ECU for the engine. Both the P72 (GS-R ECU) and the P28 ('92 - '95 EX/Si ECU) need to be chipped correctly to run the engine properly.

Now, onto the connector issues I mentioned earlier. The connectors for the distributor, alternator and injectors all need to be addressed. There are about 3 ways to do this, some are better than others.

Method 1
-Cut OBD2 connectors off a junk harness and splice them onto the OBD1 harness.
-Very crude, but it does work fine.

Method 2
-Reuse your original wiring harness
-Reuse your D16Z6 injectors
-Swap the voltage regulator out of the old D-series alternator into the B-series alternator.
-Swap the CYP/CKP/TDC sensor from the old D-series distributor into the B-series distributor housing.
-No real downside to this method other than you no longer have a complete D16Z6 swap to sell.

Method 3
-Use a '96 - '99 Integra (you can use an '00 - '01 harness but you will need to wire in the tach signal wire), or '96 - '97 Del Sol Vtec engine harness, run the vtec wiring if using an RS/LS/GS harness. If using a GS-R, ITR or Del Sol Vtec harness the whole thing is plug and play.
-Method 3 is arguably the best way to do this swap, the only downsides being having to purchase another engine harness, and the availability of said harness.

yes, except for the Si harness, the OBD2 Si's ('99 - '00 Si EM1) use a completely incompatible 1 piece harness. Again to reiterate what I said in my previous post '96 - '99 GS-R, ITR and '96 - '97 Del Sol Vtec are all 100% plug and play.
