Alot of white smoke during warm up...
everytime i go to start my car in the morning i get a lot of white smoke. It is a heavy white smoke i know its not the cold weather.... but it doesn't do it when it's warmed up. also when i hit vtec alot of smoke comes out too it seems like it's oil burning! It's a b18c1 that i recently swapped into my 95 civic!

you may have a head gasket issue as lovelove said. It sounds weird though as you say it does not happen as much when it is up to operating temperature. It may be early signs of the head gasket going.
as for the smoke when you hit VTEC, what color is it? Is it black? Have you changed your exhaust recently? if so it could be excess carbon build up loosening and blowing through exhaust at higher RPM. If it is blue as lovelove said, it is generally your piston rings. and if it gets thicker as your increasing in RPM, its generally rings...
good luck.

yeah the white smoke is just at start up... it lasts about a minute! as for the vtec i'm not so sure what color but i'll check... hopefully it's not a head gasket because i really dont feel like doing one any soon...

check around where the head gasket goes (between block and head
) see if you can see any spots that look wet, spongey, or the worst of the 3, green slime....

well worst comes to worst if it is the head gasket i'm probably going to do it next month because i'm kinda broke and i'd like to take my head to a machine shop. how much do head gaskets cost? and i'll probably go ahead and replace timing belt and thermostat. would a leakdown test help?

what mixture did you use for your anti-freeze? 50-50? Being that white it seems like water...check your overflow tank, report back its status. Also check anti-freeze in radiator.
Why would it be stopping after once reaching OT? hmmmm.....

I am going to go the other dir and say that it s more likely a valve stem seal problem. When the car sits over night the oil leaks past the seals and pools in the cylinder. When you start the car in the morning all of the oil burns off creating a lot off white smoke then goes away
yeah it is only on warm up... if i wake up in the morning and start up theres the smoke... if i wait for about an hr and start it up even if the car is cold theres no smoke... so there has to be a leak going on slowly during long hrs of it sitting down!
dc2 - productions i used prestone 50-50... never heard anything bad about their stuff! also i changed the oil yesterday after driving it for 100 miles and the oil wasn't bad at all no signs of water in it...
has anyone ever done a head gasket? how hard was it? how long did it take? if it's not that complicated i'm probably going to try to do it home next week or so!and ill go ahead and replace valve seals
changing the headgasket is a simple job take the head off and replace gasket make sure you use some honda gasket bond and torque the screws down right

i can send you the pages on a complete how to for the head gasket. right out of the Honda Service Technician Manual, step by step. send me e-mail address
i just replaced my head gasket.. torqued the head bolts to 70lbs.. spec said 63lbs but im reusing mines and i will be abusing my motor so needed to torque it a bit more.. here is a site that i used to help me with my head gasket https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ight=how+build
yea i did it myself.. took about 2 hours to put everything back in tho lol.. first time ever doing it and followed that guide ^ and my car is running awesome now.. no more smoke xD.. but yea just read it and get what he tells you to.. i got my golden eagle head gasket for $100.. u can probably get an OEM one at dealership for like $65-80.. only thing you would be needing(suggested) is new head bolts/studs.. but i didnt get new ones cus im broke LOL
yeah i'm probably going to use my stock ones... i'm broke too... i was stupid enough to drop my engine in without replace things like headgasket! i was in a rush i couldn't wait to hear the vtec. went out the other night and it sounded awesome! i just gotta fix my cylinder position sensor because thats the only code i have. replace that head gasket and valve seals, and replace my axle seals too!
yea head gasket is a MUST when removing your head from block.. AND you should drive it without pushing your motor hard for about 1,000 miles b4 hitting that vtec, break the head gasket in.. do it right the first time so there wont be a second time.. well GL n hope your car turns out right this time
yeah man deff! thanks for the help. i should be ordering the gasket this week! i just wanna fix my CEL before i do it! but tell me how hard it is not to hit that vtec when some ricer celica drive by you ... i should trade cars with my grandma for about a month or 2 once its done haha
