Default diy stock traction bar idea

Default
Ok so i got an idea, since everyone wants a traction bar to eliminate wheel hop and better handling. I see a traction bar only eliminate the bushing (also making more room ect..) but the handling part make it solid no bushing.
So im thinking and im ganna try to replace the front and back bushing of the crossmember with enough washers the same thickness of the bushing. that make it no bushing and solid....i think it will work pretty well.

Ghetto i know but its like a backyard special, any opinions?

that sounds like a bad idea. that bushing is made to flex with the LCA as it goes up and down. Just washers would stop all movement causing horrible binds and most likely broken parts.

aftermarket traction bars have spherical bushings on that end to allow for up and down movement but absolutely no forward back movement.

if you want something a little stiffer get the polyurathane bushings for the stock xmember and nothing more.

You could also replace those front bushings with a large spherical unit and keep everything else OEM. Some company out there actually makes the kit for the stock front traction bar, but I don't recall the name.

Another reason to actually get a traction bar is for clearance if you plan to run an aftermarket header or go turbo.
