95 honda accord bad probs with with wiring
some one installed a cd player in my girls car and now the wires running from the wiring harness is burnt up to the back of the dash if i hadnt have caught it when it started smoking- the car would have caught on fire! the spedometer doesnt work the tach is messin up, the drive light is blinking and the check engine light is on.
u guys think if i take most of the dash off and replace the factory wires were they arent burnt up at, i could put the fuses back in that i ripped out when it started smoking run some tests it would be straight. im good with cars but ive never been faced with this problem before. any and all help is appreciated
p.s. or if any one knows of an online wiring diagram thanx

This happened in my Integra, I just replaced the entire dash harness which was at the time $2600 from the Acura dealer, but I later found them to be $200 in wrecking yards. Replacing the entire harness is much easier than trackind down and replacing all the bad wires. Dashboard removal is not required, but makes it much simpler since the dash is only a few bolts/screws and a steering column drop as opposed to spending hours on your back using your hands to feel around for harness retaining clips.
I tore dashboards out for a living for a short time while learning about exporting cars here in Japan, you could make this job a weekend event if you can find the same car and take the good harness out of a junk car one weekend (one day) and do your car the next weekend, then you should be back on the road.
There will be some splicing needed for non dash related wires rather than unwrapping certain wires that go elsewhere on the car, no big deal though.

Here's a radio dash wiring harness for a 95 EX Automatic.
I had the samething happend to my 96 when i looked it up on alldata this is a common problem for accords my accord is sitting due to this problem my dash lights, the lights in the back and my parking lights went out. I think this is due to on top of the finderliner (which i don't have) the tire scraped the insulation off the wires, due to the streets in Baltimore just by hitting bumps and my car sitting so low. There is wires that is ty-mounted to keep from hanging. But wait i thought maybe since that the car is auto or 5-speed the dash harness should be the same. Strange????
When i look 2morrow i hope thats what i need that looks simple ill have 2 see thanx

Just in case you haven't already done so, don't forget to short out the airbags before messing around under the dash. On mine the drivers one is shorted by swapping the plugs under the small panel at the bottom of the steering wheel. I don't have a passenger bag, but if there were one, the short location is behind the glove box.
