hi hows it goin im lookin to buy another car for a dd and i found this 95 accord lx online its 2dr 5spd has 165k on it and needs a powerstearing pump the guy wants 1800 obo what do u think its worth....
looks to be in good shape. no visable rust in the wheel wells is a bonus. slight front end damage on the drivers side of the bumper. if it starts up fine and the motor sounds strong i would say that looks to be a good deal.
If
The Paint (oxidized, thin clear coat)
The Window (stuck partially open?)
The Wipers (don't fully park)
The Headlamp (Rs) (lens is cr*p)
aren't issues, then road test it. That will be what makes / breaks the deal.
P
Id take 1,500-1,650 cash and say "take it or leave it" he/she should take the deal.
Hard to tell without knowing what else is wrong with it. Could be a solid runner with a ratty appearance, or could be a total junker. The only thing good about the body that I can see from here is that the rear quarter panels aren't rusted yet. If everything else was otherwise solid (i.e. doesn't need pads & rotors, tires, ball joints, sway bar links, engine mounts, clutch, etc.), I don't think I'd pay more than $1500 for it.
Used power steering pumps are cheap and easy to replace, but I'd look a little further into it. The power steering pump may have gone bad because it was run dry if the steering rack is leaking, and installing a remanufactured steering rack is neither cheap nor easy.
Make sure to get some front turn signals for it too. They're cheap.
