New clutch, wayyy less effort to push clutch in now?
So my original clutch straight up broke, spring was popping out, stuck in 3rd gear. Ended up just getting a replacement clutch from O'Reilly's - can't remember the brand. Now that I've put this new clutch in, everything works BUT the clutch effort is like a feather now. I never opened up the hydraulic system in the process of the job so I don't think that should be affected. Engagement point feels fine, no weird noises - just really light pedal effort now. Is this typical of a new off-brand clutch? PS - there were 5 smaller springs in the clutch disk compared to the larger 3 springs in the clutch i replaced.
Wishing I would have just let the car sit for the extra week to wait for an Exedy clutch or something...

Normal; it's just the type/brand of clutch. Different pressure plates will have different pedal feel.
I put a new Exedy standard replacement clutch in my Civic this past weekend and the pedal effort is considerably less than the unknown aftermarket clutch that the previous owner had installed. Took some getting used to.

yes depending on what brand. and you have to break it in also to start having a stiffer feel. i hate the fact that mines grabs way higher than before now..

Are you sure it wasn't an aftermarket clutch that was on there originally? To my understanding, stock Honda clutches have 5 springs. If the clutch you took out only had 3 springs, it would be more of a "performance" one because of the lesser dampening. Anyways, if you like the feel of the other clutch more, you can always swap the pressure plate
id go ahead and just bleed the system real quick it only takes 5min since the system isnt that big at all (unlike bleeding brakes)

As for pedal effort, it is a function of the pressure plate. Breaking in your clutch will not change it much, if at all.
5 mins? i dont think so, it took me 20-30 minutes. I lost count of how many times i had to pump the clutch and open the bleeder. also the clutch felt softer after bleeding. new fluider = smoother??
