i traded a B16A and $600 for a 96 civic dx with a ZC single cam. the engine has a valve cover of a d16y and the engine also has a vtec solenoid. i thought ZC engines didnt have vtec? do they? i searched around honda-tech but couldnt find much info, anything else you guys can tell me about the engine would be helpful.thanks

 

it is a jay de em moter there are 3 dif tipes of zc moters that come from the jay de em land

1.sohc zc non vtak
2. sohc zc with mad jay de em vtak
2 dohc zc non jay de em vtak

my friend has one in his hatch. DOHC non vtec. still a D series
pretty much like an LS only less tourqe i think... cant remember off the top of my head.. lil bit less power. still a decent motor none the less

 

the dohc zc's are great motors.. i have one in my crx.. i built the block (wiesco pistons eagle rods etc.) and its boosted.. runs great i luv it

 

Sorry to burst the bubble but the DOHC's in the 1stgen Integ isn't a real ZC. The are classified as a d16a, gets complicated.

The sohc zc non-vtec motors were offered in japan in dx and lx EF civic's if I remember correctly. The dohc zc was in the SI ef's. And the sohc v-tec came out for the ex (si) EG civics. Im prolly wrong tho.

If you find a true ZC, it will say ZC right on the block. The only catch is the head. You can take any sohc cam and throw it on a ZC block, now some are great, others aren't. ZC's do so well because their head design is a bit more aggressive than usdm ones (cams).


Ah almost forgot. For the DOHC ZC, You can identify the civic ZC by the valve cover mounting. On integras, the cover mounts in the center, on the civic it mounts by the edges. You want the Civic ZC, not the Teggy.

It is manual integra 1999 but the owner said that the engine was swapped. I don't think he was motivated to make some tuning, the previous engine probably just dead.

 

It doesn't appear to be. What is the part number on the ECU ? 37820-XXX-XXX (You fill in the X's).
