Icon6 Help!!! Motor swap '99 Base to '98 Base

So i have been having a hellish time trying to save money to buy a motor for My '98 Base. i just found a great motor for a '99 base Lude. The whole time I have been looking for a motor I have been under the impression that i could just slip any '97 - '01 Base motor right in there.

Bottom line here is the guy selling me the motor is trying to tell me that a '99 motor won't work in my '98.

Can anyone validate or refute what this guy is telling me?????

If so, What has to be changed or modded here for this to work??????

PLEASE HELP, WORKING ON BORROWED TIME HERE!!!!!!!
THANKS

There were some wiring harness changes made to the 99-01 years so he probably is correct. I think if you transfer all of the sensors from your old motor to the newer one that you SHOULD be able to get it working properly.
