What Civic Coupe Should I Get?
basically i've been saving up like 3k, i'm 17 and really like the electron blue 99-00 si's with the b16a2, would it be cheaper to swap a b16 in a ex and paint it or just get a si? or any other ideas, besides getting a hatch?
My First Thread BTW...

EX
i have an SI and findin an SI for cheaper then like 6k that is reliable is gunna be difficult.
poorman type r is what that guy is talkin bout
and yes get an EX pretty much the same options, sunroof, vtec.SWAP it out with a GSR that would be a good start.gsr(b18) jus to let u know dont know how new you are to this game.
and be careful with those SI colors.HOT COLORS EBP,FBP,MR the 3 colors for the SI are hot for thieves and police.alot of extra attention take that into consideration b4 u paint your car.
ummm and ya with the swap at any shop pretty much who is known to do swaps should run you around 2-35 gs.so get a koo 96 97 ex for about 3 with ALOT of miles on it cause you're going to swap out the motor and tranny anyways.

I would just get an Si. I love the color too. You know painting an old *** car is gonna cost between 3 and 5k not including the engine bay and trunk... You can't finance that crap, if you buy an Si up front you already have a better starting point. However, you can probably find an EX that has already swapped for a reasonable amount of money, but you have to be careful when buying someone elses project.
Here are some thoughts:
A poor mans type r is a GSR block, b16 head AND type r pistons...
An H22 swap is a lot more involved than a B series swap and requires the removal of power steering and A/C...
If you already have an Si than you could do an H2B swap which is better than any of the above mentioned options...

Thanks for the feedback, i'm definetly gonna look for a EX and either swap it right then or just drive it til the z6 or w/e is in it dies...Still gonna get it in electron blue or silver...just love the 99-00 si and ex taillights...remind me of a beamer.
I still recommend getting the Si at first but at 17 insurance is going to kill you unless Mommy and Daddy will pay for it... Plus you might poke your eye out...
as far as insurance goes just have your parents be the primary and you the alternate and the payments will be cheaper, and oh yeah you can't just get an EX in EBP you would have to paint it!!
Hmmm...
I have actually pondered selling my 99 EBP Si. It has basic boltons: skunk2 catback, skunk2 ****/shifter, password shift boot, and skunk2/tokico suspension. I have done numerous little upgrades here and there. It is in pretty good overall condition for the mileage. 213k. I've owned it about a year and I drive it everyday to and from work, about an hour and a half total daily. The tranny works perfectly, no grinds or anything abnormal. I always baby the revs due to the mileage and the car has been solid for me.
The best part about this car is that even if the motor does blow at some point, a new B16A2 longblock can be sourced from hmotorsonline.com for about $1k and the car is right back in business. I haven't attempted to sell it yet, but I would let it go for $5900. Seems to be what you're looking for. Oh, and it does have a clean title.
