Default differences in 99-00 civic models.

Hey guys, I just recently received a 99 honda civic Dx from my older brother. It's in very good condition. I own a 97 gsr but I'm giving it to my little sister because I feel driving and building something new.
So my question is..
Is there a difference between the DX and Si models besides the power, and options. I'm talking about the exterior such as front bumper, and rear bumper. I've searched and can't find an exact answer. The Si bumper looks to be more aggressive looking but i can't tell what the difference is.

Is there a difference in the Si lip and Civic Type R lip?

ill be getting new suspension first
Si grill
Front lip

Thanks

As far as body goes the si's have a color matched lip, wing and some or all have sunroofs. As long as you talking about the coupe the front and rear bumpers are the same, less the si grill.

The Si lip is nothing special either, It was an option on all 99-00 models but came standard on the SI. The Si also has painted mirrors

all si models came with sunroofs and the ex's all came with sunroofs and vtec.only diff is SOHC AND DOHC VTEC

the si lip in my opinion looks alot better cause the "dent" on the middle of the lip isnt as pushed in as the type r lip.the type r lip looks more flared out under the left and right headlights.and yes the grills are diff.SI grills are a mesh grill and the LX DX EX model grills are like plastic strips with the H emblem in the middle.flat black really no color.like PRIMER BLACK sort of.

idk if that helps at all

also, the door side moldings are painted on EX, Si models.
DX, LX, HX's side moldings are not painted to match the body color
they're usually in black plastic color.

The spoiler was NOT standard on the Si... It was an option on all 96-00 civics from the dealer...

Front lip

All '99-'00 Civic coupes, hatches and sedans have the exact same front end EXCEPT for the grilles and the Si has a standard front lip.

The front bumper, fenders, hood and headlights are all the same on the DX coupe, EX coupe, HX coupe and Si coupe for 1999 and 2000.

Front Upper Grilles

Sedans have chrome grille shells and three fins. Coupes and hatches have color matched grille shells and two fins. The Si has a color matched shell and a mesh inner section.

My understanding is the '99-'00 Civic Type R has a similar grille to the Si, but the number of holes in the mesh is off by like two. I have not personally confirmed this though.

All '99-'00 grilles are interchangeable.

Front and Rear Lips

The front lip found standard on the '99-'00 Si and the '99-'00 Civic Type R is the same. This lip was optional in the US for any '99-'00 Civic coupe, but it fits any '99-'00 Civic front end.

The rear lip was optional for all USDM coupe trims, including the Si. The rear lip will fit any '99-'00 coupe or sedan rear bumper.

Rear Spoiler

'99-'00 Civic coupes have an optional tall truck deck spoiler. It was optional on the DX, EX, HX and Si coupes (all coupes in the US).

Moonroofs

All '96-'00 USDM Civic EX and Si coupes and EX sedans have a standard moonroof.

Australian EM1s do not have a moonroof, but so far they are the only country I have found to do so.

You cannot buy a stock USDM Civic EX coupe, Si coupe or EX sedan without a moonroof.

Painted Trim

The EX coupe and Si coupe had all painted trim (mirrors, side molding, rear license plate garnish). The Si also had standard painted side skirts, but the EX coupe had them as an uncommon option from 1998-2000.

I have an entire thread worth of options and standard parts listed for '96-'00 USDM Civics btw.

Front Upper Grilles

You're thinking of a Type R Style lip, which is a replica. The Si lip and the CTR lip are the same.

The color of the inner parts of the grilles is actually a stock dark gray (so the books say), but it looks like a matte black. Many grilles could use a nice fresh dye.

Painted Trim

VP sedans had some painted trim at least some of the time too.

Rear Spoilers

All coupes and sedans, yes.

Hatches had standard roof spoilers (CX is black and short, DX is long, two piece and has a painted upper section). The midwing was optional for them.

The coupe spoiler is different from the sedan spoiler. Also, the '96-'98 coupe spoiler was low, the '99-'00 coupe spoiler was high (about twice the height). The '96-'98 sedan spoiler had three legs and was very low profile. The '99-'00 sedan spoiler was a bit taller and had only two legs. It looks similar to the '96-'98 coupe spoiler, but pointier.

There's lot of other tiny differences. The fabric pattern, the tweeters (standard in the Si, supposedly optional in the EX coupe, but I haven't found one without them yet), shift ****, steering wheel, cluster, etc.
