Default Quick...give me some advise/suggestions

My friend and I are going down to the raceway to get some passes in. He's got an EG with a B16 with bolt ons and VAFC (tuned). His car pulls pretty hard and I know he'll pull mid 14's. I have a GS-R with I/H/E plug wires and denso iridiums. What are some free mods that I can do to gain just that little bit to close the gap that he is going to leave between us. I was thinking about advancing my timing, disconnecting my catalytic converter, and taking out my seats.

Do you guys have any other suggestions?

With my setup, what is a good timing setting? How much of an advance?

Thanks for the help

I was thinking of just pulling out your exhaust system and run w/o it... Getting some slicks maybe...I dunno. Get some Octane Boost

Weight Reduction. Take out the spare tire, jack, ect. You could also take off the power steering belt. (less parasidic drag on the motor)

weight reduction and timing.

I'd be careful with octane booster. with the advanced timing you do want to run atleast 93. I'd go to the paint store and pick up a gallon of Toluene to add to the tank before you fill up.

Stock they are mid 15's. I have i/h/e and stickier than stock tires (kumho 712) So I think I am right about where I should be, soon as it hits 50's outside here I hope to be down to around 14.6.

Oh, and the trick is to never hit your rev limiter but get as close as you can, I shift in between 7950-8000, say what you will but my monster tach makes shifting precisely a lot easier.
