Default '01 SH: LSD and ATTS. Similarities and Differences?

Hello all,

I'll try to explain what im asking the best way possible, so i dont sound like an idiot.

I do understand what the ATTS system does, but how does that compare to a LSD. I know the SiR spec (i think) is the only prelude that has LSD?

So does the ATTS system have a "built in" LSD also? I hope that sounds right. What are some comparisions or differences between the two.

Thanks for the help.

i tend to think of the difference as one is active (atts), the other is passive (lsd); or one is anticipatory, the other is reactive. with the atts system, it is reading a whole variety of sensors and anticipating how much torque is needed at each drive wheel to provide the best turn-in. with an lsd, it can only react to whatever situation is present at the tires, without any "look-ahead" capability.

Ok that makes sense. Basically you could look at it like the ATTS is "always on"?

That being the case; would they share the same properties as far as this basic road situation:

The car is parked and one tire is on the ground and the other is on the ice. In a Standard diff. one wheel will spin of course and the other will do nothing.

Does the LSD solve this, and does the ATTS share this property. Sort of like the "posi Traction" in the old buicks?

i hope im not going way off base here..

thanks
