only advice i have is, get the professionally done. they will bubble otherwise, unless you yourself are very professional.
be careful taking off the rear window. i do not know how to do that.
the rear side windows are easy. just undo the hinge and the opening mechanism. very easy.

I got my tint from TintKits.com The guy assured me that it was straight forward and I wouldn't need a heat gun or anything. I did the fronts and backs without problems, but the rear hatch window was a challenge. I ended up messing up 2 of the defroster lines as a result and don't have any tint on the rear window.
Maybe get the kit but get someone with experience to do the hatch.

be careful the hatch glass is super sensitive
i went to replace mine after a tap that shattered it, the guy putting the new one on didnt even wanna do it at first, he says its risky and too easy to break

Maybe I am crazy, or maybe where you live, tint is really expensive, I don't know. I just had tint done on a CRX. I removed the front four windows and let them remove the rear window tint, and I paid $105 for the whole job. That seems pretty reasonable. How much does a tint kit cost? Just seems like too much work to save what $40 or so, and have bubbles and other BS going on.

all tint well turn purple. why, cause the cleaners that you use on it has ammonia(windex).
just make sure you clean your hatch glass with soapy water(use dawn) in a spray bottle. use a razor blade/scrapper to clean the glass. spray again, lay tint on(after taking off the wing). measure, squiggy the tint on, heat gun, cut, spray off tint. clean the inside off like the out side. spray the inside, ready the tint(peel off the clear) lay it on the glass(make sure there is decent soapy water to move tint around) squiggy off extra water. heat it a little after words. if you have bubbles, use a pin to pop the bubble, use heat gun on it to shrink it down.

WRONG. They make glass cleaner specifically for tinted windows that does not have ammonia in it. Just go to any car parts place or the auto section of stores like Wal Mart and read the labels. The cheap stuff will still turn purple eventually but if you get a good brand they usually have a warranty against fading.
i know how to clean and tint windows, ive had the same tint on my cutlass for 3 years and its still black, just was wondering about the rear hatch window if it would be difficult!
this may be right for some films but if you get a good quality charcoal film you will save yourself the embarrassment of having purple windows over time. doing the back window of the hatch will take some time and is not the job for a amatuer. i wet the rear window down with a dryer sheet soaked in soapy(outside of window with tint liner facing you) water and allow to dry. this makes a good surface for to tint to stick to while to "shrink" the tint to the window(basically making it form the same curves as the glass). shrinking the window to the glass takes time. i squeegee the middle of the tint to the glass so it doesnt go anywheres. next u are going to take a heat gun and point it to the parts that have "fingers"(wrinkles in the film) and hit them with a heat gun for just a couple seconds. u want to put the heat gun on it just so the tint wrinkles a little and then push the finger out with a towel on your hand. your going to do this untill u have the tint perfectly matching the curve of the galss and no fingers. after u are done that process(which takes a while if u want it to come out right) your going to want to clean the inside of the window really well and soak it with soapy water. remove the tint liner while keeping the adhesive side wet with the soapy water. than apply your tint by picking it up wioth soapy hands and begin to squeegee it on to the glass after placing into place on the window.
now a good tint job requires alot of cleaning of the glass. im sure i left out some steps but tinting techniqes come as u do it more and more. ull find which way works for u best.

btw dont use a razor blade to clean the inside of your hatch glass. you will also scrape off your defroster as well if you do so. it is alright to use a razor on the outside though
