Looking for cam recomendations
Hey everyone, just looking for some help in choosing a nice set of cams to match my setup. Here’s the list of relevant mods I’m working with…
Intake side:
5th gen 3” AEM CAI w/ Bpi Flow Stack
70-65mm Taper ported Professional products throttle body w/ port matched intake mani
Black Trax spacer with IABs still in place
Exhaust side:
Hytech Replica Tri-y header
T1R test pipe
22” Magnaflow resonator
2.5” mandrel bent piping to twin loop muffler
Management:
I plan on upgrading to a better form of management, but, as it stands now;
VAFC 2
Adj. FPR
Adj. Cam gears (will go in when I put the cams in)
AEM UEGO wideband o2
I’ll probably just street tune it to a safe 13:1 for now until I get a better management system, then off to the dyno it goes. (Dent Sport Garage in Westwood, MA is where I plan on taking it…)
Engine:
Internally stock USDM H22a1
So that’s where I’m at right now. I don’t plan on having any head work done and I’m working with the stock USDM 10:1 compression, so I don’t want anything I’m not going to be able to take advantage of. Whatever cams I end up going with I’ll also be getting their valve train to match as well.
So far I’ve been looking at the Brian Crower Stage 2s and Skunk 2 Pro 1s/2s. Any feed back on these would be great as well as any other suggestions. Also, I’m looking to stay around $1,000 for the cams and valve train. Thanks in advance for any replies.
BTW, I use the car mostly for DD/The strip, however, it does see the ocasional track day and auto-x.

very nice lude
the skunk cams get more respect cause most people dont have a problem w them
the crower cams are hit and miss
pro 1's would like a little bit more cr....maybe get a thinner head gasket
pro 1's will be harder to dial in on a vafc cause all the lobes are bigger
the tunner cams drive just like stock but have bigger v-tec lobes
they are easy to dail in even on a vafc

s2 stage 2 tuner
JUN
also contact Rocket Motorsports aka Master of the Universe on here for advice on his lineup of h22 cams
there really arent many cams out for our motors that arent just copies of one another.

Thanks so far guys.
As far as the S2 tuner cams go, are the stage 1's and 2's both stock idle lobes? Or do the stage 2s have modified idle lobes? I'd really like to pick up some mid range too which is why I ask, I don't know if I'm too fond of the idea of stock idle lobes...
Is "Brian Crower" the same or associated with "Crower" BTW? Just wondering...

The more I look and read about the S2 stage 2 Tuner series cams, the more I think they may be what I'm looking for especially where I do DD the car 3 seasons out of the year. Still, any other suggestions? Thanks to everyone who's replied thus far.
