Default Possibly burning oil? Also, stumbling on acceleration..

When I bought my car, it was a quart low on oil so I added a quart so it was full. I checked it again like, roughly 2 weeks later and it's about half way between the dots on the dipstick. I got the car from a friend and I think it's had "disappearing oil" before.

I ran a compression test..
#1 - 170psi
#2 - 160psi
#3 - 165psi
#4 - 160psi

Motor should be fine. I'm going to try and find someone who can do a leakdown test for me as I don't have an air compressor. I'm hoping it's not something in the bottom end. When I get on the car hard, I think I can kind of smell oil at higher RPMs at WOT. But just cruising I can't notice anything. Any idea why I could be burning oil? I know commonly it's rings or valve seals. I'm hoping it's valve seals, cause I would like to go LS/VTEC and would slap a rebuilt head on it anyways..

Also, the car stumbles on acceleration every once in a while. If it's in gear, it will no go. It just makes burping sounds, but if I throw it in neutral or push the clutch in, it free revs just fine. Like I said, it's only doing this every once in a while. Also, if I get on it, the Tachometer gets whacky and jumps all over the place. I'm think it's ignition timing, but I can't find my timing light at my dad's house. I've replaced the plugs, and will be replacing the fuel filter in the next few days.

The car got shitty gas mileage when I first had it. (19-20mpg) but I added fuel cleaner and changed the plugs and it seems to be getting a little better. (23-24mpg) The car sat from July through December cause my buddy went to basic training. I know a full tune up is much overdo on this car, but I'm just trying to diagnose these few problems.

Any insight at all? I haven't found a damn thing searching. I'll probably sign up on another forum and ask there as well..

as far as stumbling acceleration, my car did the same thing and got progressively worse... check fuel filter, o2 sensor, and injectors.

Yeah I'll be changing the fuel filter. Is there a way to bypass the o2 sensor on these cars? That way instead of buying new ones, I could just bypass them and see if that's the problem or not? Also as far as injectors go, anyone know what size they are? I'm considering getting some at the junkyard off a lower-mileage OBD-II car and ordering a rebuild kit. But I'm not sure what CC Injectors the LS had.

Also, I'm afraid the transmission is having an issue. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the transmission, but when the car decelerates, it makes a weird noise. But it seems like when I push the clutch in, it goes away. This car is starting to be a nightmare for me. I don't mind working on it, but once I sell my sportbike and my Civic, it will be my only transportation and I can't afford it have it go out on me.

Have you checked out your distributor at all? I know my brothers 92 was getting bad mileage and stumbling and it turned out the ignitor was going bad.

The trans problem may be just the throw out bearing going out.

I had a 94' Prelude that had a bad throw-out bearing. The sounds are different. Honestly, I don't think the fluid has been changed since my buddy bought the car. (roughly 3-4 years ago) do you think old, bad fluid could cause this? Yes I know it's way overdue for a fluid change, but the weather has held me back and I haven't had time lately. I asked on a local forum and people said it could possibly be an input shaft or mainshaft bearing going out?

As far as I know, he had the distributor replaced about a year - year and a half ago. I was thinking maybe whoever installed it didn't set the timing correctly. If the distributor is replaced, does the replace the igniter as well? Is there a way I can test the igniter in any way? Possibly using a multimeter or something? I'll skim through my Haynes manual when I get a chance and see if I find anything.

Well I'm sure there is a way to test the ignitor. My brother had gotten a reman'd distributor from autozone and had bad luck with it. Maybe he got a reman'd one too.

What kind of sounds is the trans making? I know when I put a hole in my casing, my GSR trans started to make a whining/howling sound letting me know something was up.
I would get the fluid changed asap, and if you can get some Synchromesh.

I got the teg back today, it was a bad injector causing a misfire and stumbling on acceleration.

Good to know. I recently changed the oil, tranny fluid and fuel filter. It's running a little smoother, but still stumbles occassionally. Are any other Honda OBD-II injectors the same as Integra ones? Anyone know? I'll grab a few at the junkyard and swap them out and see if that does anything.
