Tach jumps up and down, car stalls out?

Tach jumps up and down, car stalls out?

Happened to me first thing this morning. The night before it jumped around at idle. Pull plugs 3 and 4....gas on them both. Could the cause be a bad valve adjustment?

You need a new ignitor.

Do you think a surge of power from a bad shift light install would have caused this?

It could have. I know MSD's can kill them sometimes, so I would think a surge like that could do it.

Ok i switched distros with my friend and the problem disappeared. Now the question is what is the faulty component? The ICM or the coil? The coil resistance seems to be in specs. I'm getting a 2.0 ohms when i should read .6-.8 ohms. Also is the ignitor and the ICM the same thing?
