Three questions on my 89 civic si
Q1) My last smog test 2 years ago I had all three emission levels high HC, NO and CO. The NO was the highest at 847 where the max allowed is 847. Since I have never changed the cat should I for this test?
Q2) My timing marks are so small I can't even read them with a timing light. Does anybody ever put a notch in the marks (using a sharp tool or equavelent) to make them more readable? I put a touch of paint on the 18 degree mark but it is still real hard to see.
Q3) My manual says by pinching the blowby hose between the PCV valve and intake manifold I should hear a clicking. I don't but my idle drops. Should I replace the PCV valve anyhow?
I have to get the car smoged this week and am dreading it.
Thanks

i would replace the cat and PCV or atleast clean the PCV valve. For your timing i would just take a scratch awl and make the marks more noticable.
Thanks apekd for the fast response. I noticed the cats available from the local parts store here in Cal says 2 way cataylst, but I believe mine is a 3 way. Does this matter? I will also change the O2 sensor, can't hurt.
Thanks again
Thanks again
Run your cat really hard, and get a blow torch and torch the outside, be sure not to burn the chassis. What this does is that it heats up the cat and burns all the excess fuel in there.
